Small Wonders: Baboon!
http://lifessmallwonders.blogspot.com/2009/04/baboon.html
Thursday, April 9, 2009. The other day Sunder dashes up to me saying, "Baboon! Me looking around stupidly, as if we'll see one of these creatures in our home). This persists for a few minutes and I finally admit defeat. I have no clue what she is talking about. Finally I get enough sense to hold out my hand and say, "Show me.". Sunder happily but urgently leads me into the bathroom and points at the toilet. I stare blankly for a good 20 seconds. Baboon? Finally I get it. Bathroom! Oh how I love baboons!

Tuesday, September 30, 2008. 3 Common Misconceptions by Me and Other Adoptive Families. 1 My child is from one of the “good” orphanages. Hmmmm, why do you suppose that is? The nanny/child ratio may be better than other places, but it is still an institution and it is most likely run like an assembly line. Our first daughter was malnourished when we got her and both our girls were quite sick upon receiving them. This should tell us plenty about the kind of “care” they received. I’ve heard plenty of ...

Small Wonders: October 2008
http://lifessmallwonders.blogspot.com/2008_10_01_archive.html
Friday, October 31, 2008. Riley spent the last three months being angry and hostile towards me. She was not having this whole little-sister thing, and I was the brunt of her anger. But the last several days she has been like a whole new person. She's been really affectionate with me, wanting to snuggle and hug all the time. She wants to hang out with me even! I think we're starting to see our little girl coming back and what a relief it is. I must admit I'm happy she is liking me again :). Last night I w...

Small Wonders: First Weird Comment
http://lifessmallwonders.blogspot.com/2009/02/first-weird-comment.html
Friday, February 20, 2009. I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. But after being an adoptive parent for over 5 years and never having anything like this happen, I thought I was immune. But a few days ago it happened. I was with the girls at a store. We were at the checkout counter. The lady there looked at me, then looked at the girls and asked rather bluntly, "Are they adopted or are they your daughters? Posted by (her name is Torrie). To my mom. Duhhh. :-). Small Wonders: Deep Discussions
http://lifessmallwonders.blogspot.com/2009/03/deep-discussions.html
Monday, March 16, 2009. Previously my daughter couldn't care less about being adopted. She had no interest in "china mom". When the opportunity presented itself I would see if she wanted to talk about it. Her answer was usually something like, "What's for dinner? But then.she turned 6. Everything changed. Posted by (her name is Torrie). Your post gave me goose bumps. With Paige the only question that comes up regularly is, Why didnt I get to be in your tummy like Luke and Jack? Small Wonders: You Just Never Know
http://lifessmallwonders.blogspot.com/2009/03/you-just-never-know.html
Monday, March 30, 2009. You Just Never Know. With our wonderful Guangxi guide in China and our new baby in 2004). We recently found out our guide from our first adoption trip in 2004 has passed away. It was sudden. A cerebral hemorrhage. He was young. I would guess late 30's/early 40's. Things like this always make you do a double-take on your own life. So, time for a little gratitude and reflecting on all the daily blessings we get to experience in this life. Posted by (her name is Torrie).
