Sarah Kooperkamp's Sermons: Epiphany 2 Year A

http://www.tothechoir.blogspot.com/2014/02/epiphany-2-year-a.html

Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Epiphany 2 Year A. Are the readings for this Sunday. This Sunday was also Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, so I feel compelled to also make a link to his "Letter from a Birmingham Jail Cell" that I mention in this weeks sermon. The letter can be found here. How are we possibly able to do any of that? Why is so much expected of us? And hasn’t Jesus done all of this? I mean, wasn’t that the point of his life, death, resurrection and ascension? Thanks be to God.

Sarah Kooperkamp's Sermons: Christmas 2 Year A

http://www.tothechoir.blogspot.com/2014/02/christmas-2-year-a.html

Wednesday, February 5, 2014. Christmas 2 Year A. Is a link to the readings. This is honestly a Christmas sermon, but since I am the assistant rector I don't (and no assistants do) preach at the really big services. So I get to think about Christmas a little longer. And this one really comes out of the new and exciting being pregnant through Advent and Christmas which felt quite different. Or are we a part of God’s dream as the Body of Christ? What are our recurring nightmares? View my complete profile.

Sarah Kooperkamp's Sermons: The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple

http://www.tothechoir.blogspot.com/2014/02/the-presentation-of-jesus-in-temple.html

Wednesday, February 5, 2014. The Presentation of Jesus in the Temple. Would you like to see me struggle? Well here is a sermon I wrestled with. I think it works better as something you read rather than as something I preached. It is a little heavy on the incarnational theology, and a little light on the communicating clearly and well. Are the readings for the Feast of the Presentation. The messianic and salvific aspects of Jesus are revealed early on. Jesus is going to be great, and he is the Son of God.

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann & the Holy Trinity: Physical Therapy

http://revsarah.blogspot.com/2014/01/physical-therapy.html

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann and the Holy Trinity. Wednesday, January 8, 2014. In today's New York Times there is a great piece in the Opinion Pages by Gabrielle Giffords called, "The Lessons of Physical Therapy." Here is a link. So you can go check it out. I have spent some quality time in physical therapy (and still sometimes miss Neeti, my last PT), and I liked Giffords's reflections on the meaning of that time spent doing repetitive action. So I will end this by saying Gabrielle Giffords is ...

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann & the Holy Trinity: Thoughts on Re-Watching

http://revsarah.blogspot.com/2013/09/thoughts-on-re-watching.html

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann and the Holy Trinity. Tuesday, September 17, 2013. Two weeks ago I spent some time with a friend of mine, Phil Maciak. He is a professor at Louisiana State University. While walking among a cemetery in New Orleans, Phil told me about a project he is working on about re-watching episodes and movies. I was and am still intrigued by it. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Http:/ tothechoir.blogspot.com/. Simple template. Powered by Blogger.

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann & the Holy Trinity: What's in a name?

http://revsarah.blogspot.com/2013/09/whats-in-name.html

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann and the Holy Trinity. Saturday, September 21, 2013. What's in a name? Last Sunday two different parishioners stopped me after church to talk about the name of this blog. No one had ever said anything to me about it before. But I thought I should think out loud with you for a few minutes here on the blog about the name of this thing. The second parishioner had a more PR minded comment. He suggested that I change it from reflections of a new priest to confessions.

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann & the Holy Trinity: The Trinity as a Model for Outreach

http://revsarah.blogspot.com/2014/01/the-trinity-as-model-for-outreach.html

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann and the Holy Trinity. Thursday, January 30, 2014. The Trinity as a Model for Outreach. I bet you all will have seen the “Invisible Child” series in the New York Times. In it, Andrea Elliott compassionately tells the story of Dasani, a homeless child in our city. If you haven’t it’s worth sitting down for a long read. It can be found on the New York Times Website. The link to the article is here. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann & the Holy Trinity: Foolish Galatians!

http://revsarah.blogspot.com/2013/08/foolish-galatians.html

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann and the Holy Trinity. Wednesday, August 14, 2013. The overall theme of Paul's Letter to the Galatians is covered extensively in the Letter to the Romans – but I find it easier to follow here. Paul is so angry at those he perceives as offering “false” and “perverted” teachings to the congregations he himself founded, that that anger sharpens his thinking as well as his tongue. Here are 8 things to think about as you read Galatians:. What does Paul say about himself?

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann & the Holy Trinity: Dreams

http://revsarah.blogspot.com/2013/12/dreams.html

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann and the Holy Trinity. Wednesday, December 18, 2013. I have been thinking a lot about dreams recently. I wonder if part of it is our season of darkness- the long nights and the short days. But I wonder too if it isn't about the story of Christmas. Joseph has a dream in Matthew's gospel:. And the wise men are warned in a dream not to return to Herod:. And you, Bethlehem, in the land of Judah,. Are by no means least among the rulers of Judah;. View my complete profile.

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann & the Holy Trinity: Romans 1-8

http://revsarah.blogspot.com/2013/07/romans-1-8.html

Reflections of a New Priest @ St. Ann and the Holy Trinity. Wednesday, July 31, 2013. Remember this week we welcome back Dr. Maia Kotrosits as both our lecturer and our preacher! I am really looking forward to her insights as I have found Romans to be a tricky (and sometimes repetitive) text. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile.
