Number 7, The Grove is an ideal place from which to explore Totnes and beyond. From the house it is a short walk to the high street, the castle and to the river. The house was originally built in the 16th century as a farmhouse. Although now looking very different and part of a brick built terrace, it retains the feel of an old house. Of all the rooms, the least altered are the guest rooms which have kept their size and shape and still have the original low doorways (6ft).

There is a good mainline train service to Totnes and if you tell us when you are going to arrive we will be happy to collect you. If you prefer you can get a taxi at the station. It is also a pleasant walk to The Grove either across the park or up through the town and there is a cycle path from the station to the town centre. The bus stop is at the bottom of the high street and from there it is a short walk to The Grove. If you tell us when you are going to arrive we will be happy to collect you.

Breakfast can be as simple or elaborate as you wish and at whatever time you choose. We are happy to cater for the vegan, the vegetarian, or the meat eater. Home-baked bread, home-made jam, honey, fresh fruit, cereal, yoghurt, cheese and cold meats are always available. If you would like a cooked breakfast we can offer eggs, bacon, sausages, tomatoes and mushrooms .If you ask for haddock or kippers we can get them from the local fish shop. All ingredients will be as local and as organic as possible.

Totnes is a lively and friendly town surrounded by beautiful countryside. The river Dart flows through the town and there are lovely walks and cycle paths up and down the river. A ferry boat goes down to Dartmouth and there is a steam train up to Buckfastleigh. 30 minutes away to the south is the South Devon coast with its spectacular cliffs and sandy beaches. 30 minutes to the north is Dartmoor, a National Park with forests and open moorland.
