Monday, March 21, 2011. 50 days in a hotel and we're still all friends! Our days have been full lately and we are taking in everything we can during our last days here. Saturday morning we headed up to Mount Vernon to see George Washingtons house. We weren't sure what to expect in terms of stuff for the kids, but it ended up being a completely worthwhile trip! We walked through his mansion, saw where his slaves lived, looked at the rows and rows of gardens, and enjoyed the view of the Potomac River.

Monday, April 4, 2011. Laura has been asking for a while if I could start teaching her piano and feeling as though she was really a little young to undertand the concepts, I've been putting it off. Finally I gave in and started teaching her very slowly this year and today was her first performance. Today we had an end of term concert here at our house for all my music students in all instruments and we had a wonderful time! So, we started using the Leslie Sansone "Walk at home" dvd's and I'm loving it!

In our unit of school this week we are talking alot about our needs and obviously one of those needs (thanks to Maslow) is that of shelter. So we had to create a house out of boxes and whatever else we could scrounge up.
