Dan Schmidt | ADVENT GUIDE 2011
https://adventguide2011.wordpress.com/author/toucanic
A Collection of Reflections and Activities. Author Archives: Dan Schmidt. January 6, 2012. Today–Epiphany–commemorates the visit of Magi to Jesus, and from that, the call to incarnate grace as the hands, feet, and heart of the Lord. As the twelfth day of Christmas, it also marks the end of Advent and Christmastide. Now comes a brief run of ‘ordinary time’ which will take us to Lent, and the great celebration of Christ’s resurrection. Served as a good companion. Is the sort of book that can still fit into.

A Collection of Reflections and Activities. November 27, 2011. And so it begins…. As Advent begins on this day, we pause to recall the angel’s visit to Mary, and her readiness to receive the Lord. A poem by Sue Schmidt. And Mary said: ‘My soul glorifies the Lord and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has been mindful of the humble state of his servant. From now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me holy is his name’. I embraced the angel’s words.

A Collection of Reflections and Activities. November 22, 2011. As so many are quick to point out, if we’re not careful, Christmas will suck us into the whirling lights, sounds, and smells–and we’ll become too busy to appreciate the deeper message. Hence, Advent, with its measured pace, and encouragement to stretch out the day into weeks so as to open time and space for adoration of the One who came, and consideration of the bigger story. For instance, try completing the sentence:. Because Jesus came, I.

Thursday hymn | ADVENT GUIDE 2011
https://adventguide2011.wordpress.com/2011/12/01/thursday-hymn
A Collection of Reflections and Activities. December 1, 2011. At an Advent study last evening, we ‘met’ this hymn–new for me, and so right for the season. The words are from Frank Houghton, a missionary in China (and a later director of CIM) who was inspired to write this following the deaths of John and Mary Stam in 1934:. Thou Who Wast Rich. Thou who was rich beyond all splendor,. All for love’s sake becamest poor;. Thrones for a manger didst surrender,. Sapphire paved courts for stable floor. You are ...

Penelopepiscopal: June 2015
http://penelopepiscopal.blogspot.com/2015_06_01_archive.html
Prayers, musing, photos. Mostly photos. Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Tuesday Afternoon Bird Photo. I love seeing these bright yellow birds, and I had heard that if you just put out a feeder full of nyjer (or Niger or black thistle) seed, goldfinches will just find it and start hanging out in your yard. So off I went a few weeks ago to the bird feeder/seed place to get some supplies. I hung the feeder in the back yard near the bird bath and other feeders. And then I waited. Links to this post. What do I know?
