Shops and Practical Informations. The prefix pre means close to. Faille came from the Latin name of Beech trees "Fagus" which through the ages has become shortened to Faye, fau fayard favine faou faon foutou etc. Faye and Fau were probably the original spelling of Prefailles in olden times. In ancient times there were Beeches along our coast in a few beautiful isolated pockets. You can still find Beech trees near St Marie ( Pornic ) and d'Arthon en Retz. Origin of tourism : curative mineral water spring.
