The girl fell to her knees as if made of concrete, leveled like a flower underneath a blade of wind. Something inside her crumbled, her mouth gaped open in a silent, overwhelmed cry. She squeezed her eyes shut, arms desperately wrapped around herself, as if she were about to shatter into a million pieces. It made no sense to her. How this could happen so quickly.

Slow, because you try to fight the feeling rationalize the actions of others. But eventually, you give up. There’s no point fighting the truth. People are imperfect, but that doesn’t stop the hurt.
