IThink, iTeach, iTeens. Slide to unlock…learning…. As a student, participation in NGL was useful for me. This reflection can also be found at this Google Doc link. An argument can be made that networked learning is akin to a portal, opening up a new and previously inaccessible way of thinking about something (Meyer and Land, 2003, p. 1). When I initially started engagement in this course. I was clearly within. And straightforward way to mastery (Riel and Polin, 2004). Is that in order to develop an effec...

DBR Feedback – Statement of Problem | iThink, iTeach, iTeens

IThink, iTeach, iTeens. Slide to unlock…learning…. DBR Feedback – Statement of Problem. Thanks to everyone for your feedback and comments in relation to me DBR inquiry via the Google Doc. Based on the comments and feedback in the Google Doc I have noted that my ‘statement of problem’ was not specific enough and provided more of a introduction to the intervention rather than the problem. I am seeking feedback on the ‘statement of problem’. Is the statement of problem articulated? Educators frequently use ...

IThink, iTeach, iTeens. Slide to unlock…learning…. As Teacher’ and ‘As Student’ Modelling. Recently a number of us in the NGL course have been discussing the concept of blogging and how it can lead to positive outcomes for students Annelise. Photo by Kris Olin. I just thought I would note a few more observations I have made in relation to blogging and also modelling in this course. Can this blogging concept just start in one class or should it be a whole school transformation? I can definitely see that a...

‘As Student’ / ‘As Learner’ – Sharing my Learning | iThink, iTeach, iTeens

IThink, iTeach, iTeens. Slide to unlock…learning…. As Student’ / ‘As Learner’ Sharing my Learning. After watching the video. Shared by David on our Diigo group. This video has really hit home for me and I have shown many of my classes this week in order to encourage their networked and connected sharing of ideas. The video challenges us to realise that:. Sharing our ideas in PCP is not scary and threatening, but can help ourselves and others. Everybody’s ideas seem obvious to them. As learner’ I am excit...

IThink, iTeach, iTeens. Slide to unlock…learning…. 8216;As student’ Diigo. This week we have been asked to annotate a blog post using Diigo. And share this with our Networked and Global Learning Group. I have not used social bookmarking. In the past and so this is the first time I have shared my highlights and comments on articles in the public eye. Rather than on the specific blog post – https:/ willocksb.wordpress.com/2014/08/03/as-learner-let-the-games-begin/. When I put on my ‘as teacher hat’ I can s...

‘As Learner’ – Sharing | iThink, iTeach, iTeens
https://willocksb.wordpress.com/2014/08/23/as-learner-sharing
IThink, iTeach, iTeens. Slide to unlock…learning…. One of the core principles identified by NGL is ‘feeding forward’, as identified by Downes (2011). Given my increasing acceptance of the PCP approach I have decided to share with our community an evaluation that I conducted and curated video on a 1-to-1 iPad Project. This video was the end product from a previous course of study. Was used to create the core presentation. Screenshots were then taken to import into the movie editing App. The Gami was recor...

My (current) PKM | iThink, iTeach, iTeens
https://willocksb.wordpress.com/2014/07/30/my-current-pkm
IThink, iTeach, iTeens. Slide to unlock…learning…. Well we have come around to Week 2 and I must admit that I am feeling very overwhelmed with this course. The picture that is indicated in the course work definitely reflects everything that I am feeling. After watching the video of Clay Shirky. I am not sure if I feel better or not. The key ‘take-aways’ for me from the presentation were:. Information overload is VERY common. Our information overload is a filtering issue and we are having filter failure.

‘As Teacher’ – Concerns surrounding NGL | iThink, iTeach, iTeens

IThink, iTeach, iTeens. Slide to unlock…learning…. As Teacher’ Concerns surrounding NGL. In a previous post. I noted some of my concerns ‘as teacher’ surrounding NGL and student protection. Teachers need to keep at the forefront their:. Face-to-face interactions with students. Their electronic communication with students, that MUST go all go through school monitored email filtering. Electronic communication with parents. Privacy concerns for the students. Students are now able to search the internet for ...

IThink, iTeach, iTeens. Slide to unlock…learning…. As Teacher’ Do we need a walled garden for our teens to ‘play’ in? This week there has been much discussion about the use of LMS for learning and teaching. Have all presented arguments for and against Edmodo and LMS generally. Andrew shared how Edmodo is used in a secondary school context and the importance for ease of use and teacher monitoring. Anne shared how Edmodo is used in a primary school context to develop a safe learning community. Schoology al...
