A Time to Treasure: May 2012
http://balfours.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Treasuring the blessings, one by one. Monday, May 28, 2012. Spring is absolutely, 100% my favourite season! Even though I can hardly move (less than 6 weeks to go, folks! And when I do, I look like a lumbering elephant, I am elated that AT LEAST I am in this physical state IN SPRING. 1 The wonders of a preschool visit to the dairy farm. This baby made the poop and stink all worth it. :). 2 The wonder of EASTER and that feeling of newness that comes with it:. New clothes, and more importantly,. Especially...

Our life as a puzzle: uncovering the beauty of my daughter with autism. June 13, 2014. Our life is a puzzle. Sometimes I look at a situation like Rachel’s autism or my experience with cancer and the pieces seem scrambled in a hopeless, senseless jumble. I have a choice in those situations: hide from it and pretend I don’t see it, which helps nothing, or I can pick apart the pieces and make sense from the chaos, step by step. If you enjoyed this post, please consider leaving a comment. The beauty in autism.

Preposition lessons with Rachel. October 8, 2013. October 4, 2013. One of the many goals Rachel is working toward in speech therapy is understanding prepositions. For years, I’ve yearned to assist her with language, to use my career experience as a speech-language pathologist to help her, but I usually feel as useful as an empty tube of lipstick. Today, though, I was able to do something that felt like speech therapy (to me) with her! Or at least I thought I was helping. Sounds like a great idea, yes?

March 25, 2014. March 19, 2014. Sometimes mothering is as easy as stuffing a tiger into a pillow case. I can’t seem to keep it all together. And I often mess up. Ever feel that way? I do, especially when I trip over the scattered contents of my linen closet, or walk into my closet to see all my clothes pulled off the hangers by my busy younger child. And then there are the times I butt heads with my preteen…. Nice one, Mom. I wanted to hide and scream. Why, God? Click here to read the whole post “ ...

A Time to Treasure: July 2013
http://balfours.blogspot.com/2013_07_01_archive.html
Treasuring the blessings, one by one. Monday, July 08, 2013. Well, we had the slowest spring of all time. The only flowers to be seen were the bought ones sitting in a vase on my shoe shelf. But we still found ways to TREASURE April! Played play dough in a sunbeam. Strengthened the legs so perhaps she'll walk before she's five. (Balfours! Made cute faces for the camera. Practiced grabbing our rib cages. Used the infamous "hold hands till you love each other" time out. Heeheee! Worked like a charm. To buy...

Treasuring the blessings, one by one. Monday, October 17, 2011. BC 2011 - Our Trip in Photos. For one week over Thanksgiving weekend our family flew out to BC to spend the holiday with Rob's parents. It was a delight! The kids did well on the plane, adjusted great to the new time zone, and adored being with the Balfour side of their family. Here are a few of our best memories:. I prayed Micah would be walking by the time we went to BC.and he was. :). Trips are just. .better. When your baby is walking.
