6% Place Tracking Tools. Market Value, block-by-block. The value of entire city blocks is a pragmatic and easy-to-understand indicator of positive (or negative) change over time. Our tracking tool will be updated to reflect updates in property value assessments gathered by the Allegheny County Assessment. We have aggregated these parcel-by-parcel values into one numeric indicator by block. Over time we anticipate that this numeric indicator will increase in value.

6% Place Tracking Tools. So we set out to make our own census, and in 2012, with the support of the Heinz Endowments. And the Bloomfield-Garfield Corporation. We did exactly that. We knocked on every door in the 6% Place, had census-takers on-hand at two monthly Unblurred. Art night events along Penn Avenue, and advertised an online survey through e-blasts, flyers, and articles in the local media (including The Bulletin. Additionally, we created the Garfield Freelancers Database. This is what we found:.

6% Place Tracking Tools. Building Conditions on Penn Avenue. Building Conditions on Penn Avenue. We have rated the conditions of buildings along Penn Avenue on a scale of zero to three, zero being a vacant lot, one a building in bad condition, two a building in average condition, and three a building in good condition. Initial data was gathered in July 2011 by visual survey and was also correlated with data from the Allegheny County Assessment.

All indicators point to the fact that for a city to be competitive in today's economy, it must have a sustainable and competitive workforce between twenty-five and forty years old. It is an age group that tends to be both mobile and entrepreneurial. Therefore, a goal of the 6% Place experiment is to draw twenty-five- to forty-year-olds to Garfield. Of Friendship is between 25 and 44, while 23%. Of Garfield is between 25 and 44. Total population, 2010.

6% Place Tracking Tools. The number of vacant or unused properties is a basic indicator of a neighborhood's economic health. As the neighborhood becomes economically stronger, the number of vacant properties should decrease. We will update this map via periodic visual surveys and other published data.
