Olivia's Adventures: April 2012
http://olivemama.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 18, 2012. Sick day: watching Sesame Street for the first time. Wednesday, April 11, 2012. Sunday, April 8, 2012. Today was such a great day at our house. Olivia enjoyed her second Easter today. Yesterday we prepared for the festivities with some egg dying. We just used the traditional Paas coloring kit that Pete and I used when we were growing up. We have plenty of time to get fancy when she's older. Today both grandmas came over for brunch (oh so good! We served Monte Cristo Waffles.

Olivia's Adventures: Winter Playdough
http://olivemama.blogspot.com/2013/01/winter-playdough.html
Monday, January 28, 2013. Yesterday, Little O woke up with the beginnings of a cold. Ugh. Pete and I decided we better play it safe and stay home so we didn't spread it to all our friends. We needed something to do that would keep Little O quiet and happy. Playdough, of course! I whipped up a batch of our favorite no-cook playdough. I made a traditional snowman (with a bow because I wanted her to be a girl), Pete made a snowmonster. Edible Crafts for Babies. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Don't Forg...

Olivia's Adventures: June 2012
http://olivemama.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Sunday, June 17, 2012. I also packed some smaller toys, but she had no interest in them- she was all about the books! We went to Lincoln Park Zoo first. She really enjoyed the gorillas and chimps. The white-cheeked gibbons were a hit too. The baby gibbon (born in January) kept running up to his mama to nurse. Olivia watched for a while, then turned to me and signed milk. Could be that she was asking me for some, but I got the feeling she knew what was going on in there! After the aquarium, we headed back...

Olivia's Adventures: Very Hungry Caterpillar Invitations
http://olivemama.blogspot.com/2012/02/very-hungry-caterpillar-invitations.html
Wednesday, February 1, 2012. Very Hungry Caterpillar Invitations. Olivia's birthday party invitations went out in the mail yesterday. I'm so pleased with how they turned out. Since her party theme is The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle, I decided to make some caterpillar invitations. I think my favorite part might be her cute little thumb prints on the envelopes and in the caterpillar's eyes. Here is a picture of the supplies you will need:. Here is what the invitations say:. Once I had all the cir...

Olivia's Adventures: November 2011
http://olivemama.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html
Wednesday, November 30, 2011. She slept the whole way down. We arrived at 4:15am and went right to bed. We spent most of Wednesday relaxing and recuperating from our long drive. That night my dad made us ropa vieja for dinner with plantains. YUM! I sure do miss Cuban food. That reminds me… I need the recipe! Olivia ate everything (except the pecan pie) and loved every bite. She is quite the eater! Thank you, Ginger! Walking in the park. It was a flea market in this tiny town I couldn't understand the nam...

Olivia's Adventures: December 2012
http://olivemama.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Friday, December 28, 2012. This December we had a lot of cold, cloudy, wet days. So we spent a lot of time indoors. We've been coloring (Olivia is obsessed with markers right now), painting, playing with play dough, and playing with a Christmas discovery bin. During the week of Christmas, Daddy took off of work for a few days. We went to the Children's Discovery Museum and the library as a family. It was nice to have Daddy around to play with Olivia. Labels: Childrens Discovery Museum. I am so far behind...

Olivia's Adventures: May 2012
http://olivemama.blogspot.com/2012_05_01_archive.html
Wednesday, May 16, 2012. Hiking on Mother's Day. Today I decided to try a new art project: Finger Painting. I scoured some of my favorite blogs and found a recipe for an edible (though not too tasty) finger paint recipe on Pounds 4 Pennies. The best part was that I had all the ingredients on hand. I bet if you look, you do too! Here's what you need:. 1/2 cup corn starch. 3 Tbsp. sugar. 1/2 tsp. salt. 2 cups cold water. A few drops of food coloring. I decided to taste test this finger paint since most lik...

Olivia's Adventures: January 2012
http://olivemama.blogspot.com/2012_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 28, 2012. It's official. We have a mobile baby. And with that came a lot of changes. It's been a bittersweet couple of days. I'm excited to see her grow and change, but at the same time, she's not a little baby anymore. Because she can now get from place to place (what? The baby isn't where I left her? We have to actually baby-proof some of our home. We're not going crazy and baby-proofing the whole house from top to bottom, but there are a few things we need to get done. We have a plan...

Olivia's Adventures: Olivia's Birthday Party
http://olivemama.blogspot.com/2013/01/olivias-birthday-party.html
Tuesday, January 15, 2013. I've started planning Olivia's birthday party this week. I can't believe she's going to be two next month. Amazing. People say they grow up so fast, but you really don't know what that means until the baby you swear you just brought home from the hospital is getting ready to turn two! She is, and some of them haven't had much experience with art supplies beyond crayons. I've already started the invitations. I made, and I didn't have any glitter paper. I only used stuff I ha...
