Magpie Trader: Trade Selection
http://nzmagpietrader2.blogspot.com/2005/08/trade-selection.html
Saturday, August 27, 2005. It's just so easy! Joe Ross says that the reason he's successful as a trader is due to his trade selections, as he has a very small window of criteria that have to fit before he puts money on the line, it stops him from over trading and leaves him profitable more times than not. To determine the trend for me is simple, is the 17 EMA below the 34 EMA and the angle of separation increasing? Posted by Magpie @ 12:38 PM. Comments: Post a Comment. Christchurch, New Zealand. Thursday, November 10, 2005. It's my cousin's birthday today - so happy birthday mate, how old is it now? With limited charting access only a longer term approach applies so a limit buy on cable at 1.7479. Only going for half the usual trade size so a larger SL in place at 1.7435. To me it looks like a 123 bottom so the usual entry above the '2'. Posted by Magpie @ 1:24 PM. Comments: Post a Comment. Magpie Trader: My trading education and tools.
http://nzmagpietrader2.blogspot.com/2005/08/my-trading-education-and-tools.html
Thursday, August 25, 2005. My trading education and tools. I’ve read a great deal in books and on the internet about other people’s strategies, but the only course I’ve actually purchased is Peter Bain’s at. For a beginner/intermediate trader it’s very good, but the real value lies in the subscription to his website, which is excellent and has some very knowledgeable traders on it. Peter also answers subscriber’s questions everyday in his daily video updates. But I’ll get on to them in time. I’ve also le...

Magpie Trader: My strategy falls into four parts
http://nzmagpietrader2.blogspot.com/2005/08/my-strategy-falls-into-four-parts.html
Thursday, August 25, 2005. My strategy falls into four parts. 1 Top down analysis. A My Daily and 4 hour charts are set up with Exponential moving averages all with a common theme that they are divisible by 17. I find in trends that price will use the 17 and 34 EMAs as support or resistance. The other EMAs mentioned act on price in other ways that you can check out by looking for yourself. E I use the daily and Camarilla pivots as guides also. G the Macro ACD method (gone into great detail in the book 'L...

Magpie Trader: 3 day pivot strategy with MACD
http://nzmagpietrader2.blogspot.com/2005/10/3-day-pivot-strategy-with-macd.html
Thursday, October 06, 2005. 3 day pivot strategy with MACD. As can be seen from 'A', it's not a 'given' that the price will continue, but used in conjunction with ACD day signals, or your own system, or even just basic trend lines, the alert to reverse is there - and if it doesn't materialise, then the trend will continue for a few days at least. This strategy revolves around a day trading strategy providing the entry signal and the 3 day pivot range and MACD keeping the trade going. This chart shows the...

Tuesday, November 15, 2005. The cable limit on Friday was triggered, but it failed quite spectacularily, moved SL to breakeven 1 and left it. Went long cable 1.7452 x 2 thinking this could be the promised rise to the heavens for christmas and closed at 1.7465. Shorted again at 1.7463, took half on a limit at 1.7448 and left the rest to run with SL at BE 1 as it made a C down, left an exit limit at 1.7355 as a double bottom seemed likely and went to bed. Nice way to wake up in the morning.
