Responsibility 199: May 2011
http://responsibility199.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html
Responsibility 199, what is it? Responsibility 199 is a belief; I believe that to be healthy and to increase my longevity I need to weigh 199 pounds or less. Responsibility 199 is a need; I need to reduce my weight, reduce my percentage of body fat, and the elevated threat of disease my present condition presents. Responsibility 199 is a mission; I recognize that achieving 199 will be a challenge, perhaps the hardest I have ever undertaken. Responsibility 199 is ME. Tuesday, May 31, 2011. Last week, Sick.

From Fat to Marathon Runner: February 2010
http://journeyfromfattolondonmarathon.blogspot.com/2010_02_01_archive.html
From Fat to Marathon Runner. I did it, I ran a marathon . I'm already thinking about No.2! Friday, February 26, 2010. Do you see the ticker? Run a marathon, not *insert bad words" likely" LOL. I did my hill run yesterday, 53:20 - funny, my time gets slower each week, yet I feel stronger running up it - I think I've learnt to pace myself better and pace it pretty slowly before hitting the hill and then take it pretty easy running down . not worried at all, its getting that hill in that counts! Got to the ...
Shoeless Shel Bell: Running Highlights
http://shoelessshelbell.blogspot.com/2012/05/running-highlights.html
A blog about my adventures in running and everday life with my 3 little ones. Life is busy but never too busy to run! Thursday, May 3, 2012. I've been having so many running adventures lately and not enough time to write so I thought instead I would write "highlights" instead of race reports. Tough Mudder (February 26) Temecula, CA. Vanessa got me a free entry into this event (she's awesome! The running portion of the race was awesome! I was plugging my nose not sneezing :). Overall, I had a really great...
The Run of My Life: April 2011
http://barefootjohnnyo.blogspot.com/2011_04_01_archive.html
The Run of My Life. Barefoot running for fun, love, life and other corny stuff! Monday, April 25, 2011. The humidity and heat were a strange feeling today. After about 4 miles, Pepper decided she had enough and stopped for a rest. We waited about 5 minutes and she was ready to go again. We miss the cold. Friday, April 22, 2011. This graph makes me laugh. A bigger view of the graph can be found here. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A blog about me. What could be better? View my complete profile.
The Run of My Life: Cleveland Marathon Race Report

The Run of My Life. Barefoot running for fun, love, life and other corny stuff! Sunday, May 15, 2011. Cleveland Marathon Race Report. I finished 2'nd . . . in the barefoot division. There were three of us that I know of. Jessy and I discussed our craziness at mile 17. Before I let him run ahead - he was running strong - he said that he had passed another barefooter before me. That guy never caught me though. Who finished 1st in his age group. Much faster than I can dream of. And to Steve, a colle...My ra...

Toto, We’re Not in Healthy-Eating-Ville Anymore. Say Yes to the Dress →. August 25, 2011 · 4:18 am. When the Peanut Butter Hit the Fan. That’s how long it’s been since I had my last lick of peanut butter. And it feels… fine. Heck, until writing this post, I hadn’t even been counting:) But sometime about a month or so ago I realized that I was coming up on my anniversary of tossing the last jar into the trash. Here’s how it all came about…. Was a glimmer in my eye. No longer needing the excuse of a meal o...
Which came first? The cheat or the pre-cheat? | Waisting Time
https://waistingtime.wordpress.com/2010/09/13/which-came-first-the-cheat-or-the-pre-cheat
Hey Big Spender, Spend a Little Time Reading This. Twenty Minutes →. September 13, 2010 · 7:00 am. The cheat or the pre-cheat? This post is dedicated to my husband, who, as a captive audience on our long bike rides, has shared some interesting conversations on the whole healthy living subject. One day recently, in response to my latest dieting lament, he coined the phrase “pre-cheat.”. There is “cheating.” And then there is “pre-cheating.” What’s the difference? Karen’s pre-cheat scenario one:. I was jus...
I Wanna Asana | Waisting Time

Tag… I’m “It”. Giving Miss Manners Her Just Desserts →. January 16, 2012 · 12:01 am. I have a long,. Spotty history with yoga. It started with me thinking it would be good for me. I am very inflexible. (I mean physically, but, yes, I am emotionally inflexible too. Sigh.) I don’t relax well. Or often. I wouldn’t know zen if it. Kicked me in the face. Fell into my legs-crossed-lap. So about a decade ago I tried a class at my (since closed) gym. I hated it. Every single. And so I gave up trying. Decided...
The Sprats Got Nothing On Us | Waisting Time
https://waistingtime.wordpress.com/2012/02/23/the-sprats-got-nothing-on-us
Don’t Count Your Exercise Clothes Before They’re Hatched. Roll, Roll, Roll Your Thigh… →. February 23, 2012 · 12:01 am. The Sprats Got Nothing On Us. My dear husband has adopted a new eating philosophy for himself and he and I are now pretty much eating nothing in common! Well, not the key stuff anyway. It all started on Facebook. (Darn that social media for influencing our lives! He likes that he no longer craves meat. I NEVER crave meat! Mind out of the gutter, Munchberry. So… what this means is ...
Shoeless Shel Bell: July 2011
http://shoelessshelbell.blogspot.com/2011_07_01_archive.html
A blog about my adventures in running and everday life with my 3 little ones. Life is busy but never too busy to run! Sunday, July 17, 2011. I am an avid procrastinator. I used to try and fight this quality of mine but I have long since given in. It's well ingrained in my personality and I've grown attached to it. Sometimes well intentioned 'task masters' have tried to change my procrastinating ways but it just cannot be done. Just like I cannot change the color of your eyes, you cannot change that I...

Trail Skeptic | The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, of bears, cougars and rattlesnakes, may they sleep…
The woods are lovely, dark, and deep, of bears, cougars and rattlesnakes, may they sleep…. November 23, 2014. My trip home from Buck Lake was long, expensive and complicated. I had to walk about 5 hours on the road (ouch! Selfie from the sterile, scantily furnished hotel in Buck Lake. Still, it costs $100/night and the cheapest in town. The bar associated with the hotel was quite nice and served a good hamburger. I’ll have to visit this town again with my motorhome someday. An Explanation for going silent.
TRAIL SKETCHES
A place to post my trail side artwork and sketch journal entries. Thursday, October 24, 2013. Mule Creek Training Run. I thought I'd post some photos from my training run(s). I am doing the Couch to 5K running program which is a podcast you can download for free on iTunes. It takes a non-runner (like me! From zero to 5K capable in 12 weeks. I took these photos when I did a 'virtual' 5K 'Run for Joy' last winter. What's a virtual run you ask? Tuesday, June 7, 2011. I did a short hike down to the Coconino ...

Now Available in Hardcopy AND eBook! One cold wintry Nebraska day, of January 1999,. I was invited to travel with a wagon train, come spring time. Are We There Yet? And Lessons Learned Along the Way. Is, in essence, a contemporary journal of travel with a wagon train upon the Overland Trails. Expressed through my photography, it conveys a personal impression of such an adventure; one of many months and a great many miles, as well as some of the lessons I learned along the way. Are We There Yet?
