Tuesday, February 23, 2010. 2-23-10:The 9 week Training Cycle (take 2). I've gotten a number of questions about the Tudor Bompa Cycle after the post on the Touchstone Blog. Since my last post was a little cryptic, here is another take on that it that will (hopefully) make more sense. 3 sets high rep weights to get body ready for training phase - work as many muscle groups as possible - gradually increase intensity - ideally 4 to 6 weeks. Test one rep max* *. 70% x 8 reps x 1 set. 80% x 6 reps x 2 sets.

Training4Climbing: September 2009

http://training4climbing.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html

Wednesday, September 02, 2009. 9-23-09: The 9 week training cycle. It is about time that the fabled 9 week cycle gets explained in some depth. Many years ago, Randy Puro introduced me to the the 9 week cycle that he had adopted from the Eastern European training guru Tudor Bompa. He converted the power training cycle from his Periodization Training. Book and adapted it for bouldering. Here is my take if you will, on how to apply this method to bouldering. WHO IS THIS FOR? WHERE DO I START? When lifting, ...

Wednesday, September 12, 2007. 9-12-07: From the master: Tudor Bompa. Hanks Paul for the info re. bouldering. Now I have a better picture about. Yes, you are on the right track with your program. Your cycles are very well. Designed and difficult to add too much to what you are already doing. Maximum strength (MxS) is the key element in your training but you should. Also add an exercise for the lats muscles. A pulling exercise will be very. Beneficial, as close to the angle you use in competitions. Differe...

Training4Climbing: September 2005

http://training4climbing.blogspot.com/2005_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 05, 2005. Many of us have been training lately, and I thought this would be a good forum to talk about that as well. Due to my anal nature I'm trying to come up with a common notation to write down how we train in short hand to help facilitate the conversation. Mainly, I just wanted to have something on the web that I could reference when I wanted to. Here's my first stab:. 9679;CT= complex training. D= doubles (but not plyometrics). CS= campus board - small rungs. M = a match. CM 15(9)...

Gossiping About Mosquitoes: February 2011

Tuesday, February 1, 2011. Starting the year off right with a few trips to Castle Rock, so dear to my heart. Justin makes quick work of Static Reach Low and executes creative beta to avoid an unbearable reach. Error in video: this climb is "Static Reach Low" not "Static Reach SUPER Low.". Wednesday, February 3, 2010. Although John already stole my thunder and posted the video on his blog, I thought I'd post it again in case some of you missed it. That's right, the amazing duo that is * *Trafectallejo* *. Has paired up once again to bring you coverage of another awesome Touchstone comp. In other news, Justin has made it home after crushing Hueco :) and is accustomed to falling asleep before 10pm and waking up way before 7am. I wonder if this is the same man? Gossiping About Mosquitoes: April 2010

http://btraf.blogspot.com/2010_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 1, 2010. Unfortunately this will probably be my last post for some time since I'm back to school and working my booty off. sniff sniff. Don't cry for me though, I'm sure I'll weekend warrior it a bit and make it out to the Valley on the weekends. The following is a short video with some easy LCC classics. I apologize for the lower quality of the video. iMovie sucks and exporting high quality videos from iMovie is even suckier. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Where the Wild Things Are.

Gossiping About Mosquitoes: Way Lake 2010

http://btraf.blogspot.com/2010/08/way-lake-2010.html

Sunday, August 1, 2010. I feel like it would be unfair to have a blog titled "Gossiping About Mosquitoes" and not mention that the mosquito alert at Way Lake was at DEFCON 1. Beware, mosquitoes were swarming to the point that we had to retreat away from water and into the talus. Even long garments couldn't prevent the attacks. Deet (although extremely toxic) may be necessary to tolerate the troops there. Good luck. August 1, 2010 at 6:50 PM. Justin: nice tank top! August 2, 2010 at 2:41 PM.

Sunday, May 23, 2010. Although Justin has left CA for a brief "month or so"visit to Colorado, he went out with a bang. On his last weekend in Yosemite he ticked "Shadow Warrior" (V12) and made it look quite easy on the send, I must say. Congrats honey! I miss you. you can come home now.
