Running down the important things in life. Monday, September 13, 2010. It wasn't too cold, and the water didn't feel too bad either, at least not compared to Aquatic Park. The start was a little bit late, but before I knew it, I was lining up for my wave and running into the water. Just part of the SF Tri crew before the race. Hard on looking straight ahead instead of down so that I wouldn't see any sea creatures that would make me panic! Just keep swimming. just keep swimming.). I was trying desperately...

Running down the important things in life. Wednesday, July 11, 2012. Birthday dinner at the port. I arrived in Nice on Monday before the race, giving me just enough time to get to the apartment, deposit my belongings, crack a bottle of wine, and sign up for IM Lake Tahoe. Looking back, it's a good thing Tahoe opened before I raced France, because I'm pretty sure I wouldn't have been able to bring myself to sign up for another one the day after the race! Look at that blue water! Out on the town. Ironwomen...

Running down the important things in life. Sunday, October 21, 2007. Nike Women's Marathon 2007. So here’s what went on this week:. Fortunately I had this night off, so I went to Jessica’s and we ate really good pasta and watched trashy reality TV! Our last CRSF run…we all ran three miles, and then we had a pasta party afterward at Niketown. The glasses of wine were generous, the food was pretty good, and there were lots of fun things to buy! Unfortunately, there were a ton of out-of-towners there, and I...

Running down the important things in life. Monday, April 18, 2011. I signed up for the Presidio 10. At the last minute, not sure if I was better off just doing my coaching duties at the tent or actually running. As an RRCA. 10 mile National Championship Race and Western Regional Championship 10k, I knew I wanted to be there to represent the SFRRC. On Saturday morning, I went for a nice, fairly hilly bike ride in Marin with some SF Tri. Dinner with the RRCA crew ( courtesy of Simone Adair. A short little ...

Running down the important things in life. Wednesday, February 13, 2013. Steep Ravine 25k - Jan. 2013. One of my goals for 2013 is to write a race report for each of my races - I'm already behind, so I'm catching up! After suffering through a couple of weeks of the flu and clawing my way back into running shape, so when Stephen suggested we do Coastal Trail Runs'. Steep Ravine 25k, I said yes. The course was very similar to one I'd done last fall, so I was anxious to see how I would do. At the top of Ste...

Running down the important things in life. Tuesday, February 12, 2013. Rim2Rim2Rim - Oct 2012. In early 2012, my friend Rachel sent out an email asking if anyone wanted to join her for a Rim to Rim to Rim adventure in the Grand Canyon. The trip crept up on us a lot faster than I had expected, but thanks to training for the North Face 50 miler, I felt about as ready as I was going to be for this epic run! First look at the Canyon. Obligatory Grand Canyon shot. Sesame cookies (the Middle Eastern kind).

Running down the important things in life. Sunday, November 25, 2007. I was seriously disappointed, but I knew the end was close, so I don’t even know if I bothered drinking anything. We passed a little park, and then hit the final stretch that led to the shopping center where we started. I out-kicked the girl I’d been running behind for the last stretch, and made it across the finish line in 38:53, a 7:46 pace! I took home some of the coolest hardware ever. Check it out:. My kick-ass turkey trophy.

Running down the important things in life. Tuesday, May 04, 2010. Ave of the Giants. I went into the Avenue of the Giants expecting to use it as a Boston qualifying race. I knew that the course would be beautiful, and the course profile made it look like a good race for an attempt. Two different out-and-backs with some rollers on a Redwood-lined street – sounded good to me! And in Ukiah for lunch at Subway. We got to the packet pickup at around 4:00pm, and we were done at about 4:02. But it was old and k...

Running down the important things in life. Friday, December 19, 2008. My road to Chicago started back in the spring when I was talking to some other friends about which marathon they were going to do in the fall. When Sam mentioned Chicago, I was intrigued…I’d always wanted to run it, and I was eager to find a new race to use as a Boston Qualifier. Giordano’s was great, although I’ll never eat more than one piece of that pizza again! Sam and me on the way to the expo. Then we went to check out the mercha...

Running down the important things in life. Thursday, December 20, 2007. My mom and dad were nice enough to come out and watch me run CIM. They had wanted to come up for my triathlon, but I knew that CIM would be a tough race, and that it would be nice to have some support on the course. My plan for this race was to run a 3:40. 8211; that’s right, Boston qualifying time! 8211; and my training was definitely on the right track. 4 miles. It was incredibly painful, but felt so satisfying afterward! When we a...
