The Most Awesomest Awesomers Ever

Back to School 2012. Our summer was awesome. We hit the beach, visited with family, spent lots of time at the pool, and did a lot of relaxing. But all good things come to an end and better things start: school! All three boys are in school this year and it's going to be awesome. As the school year loomed, Grant was pretty bummed and cried every time we talked about it. He didn't want to lose his play time. Blake and Hayden were thrilled at the prospect of school starting! The Most Awesomest Awesomers Ever: May 2011

http://travandmel.blogspot.com/2011_05_01_archive.html

Back from the Dead. My laptop that is! We fell in love with a house that I almost didn't even look at. It needs lots of painting and a few upgrades in the kitchen, but the neighborhood, yard, finished basement, porch, and square footage for the price won us over. Once again, everything has been falling into place for our move. We even were given tons of moving boxes from someone that just moved into our ward. He was sad to say goodbye to his third grade class and his home. Awwww.what sweet kids!

Meal planning has been easier than I thought. Having tried it off and on for years, I finally figured out what works for me. I used to hate feeling tied down to a menu, but then I would be panicky and overwhelmed by coming up with dinner without a plan. Now I've figured out how to plan quick, healthy, filling, and cheap meals that come together in minutes. Monday: Freezer meal (we have piano lessons at 5pm). Tuesday: Breakfast for dinner. Wednesday: Crock pot meal (scout night). Ham and egg cups. Tonight...

The Most Awesomest Awesomers Ever: December 2011

http://travandmel.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Christmas Eve was awesome. I started cooking two days before, so I wouldn't be cooking all day long. We had rolls in the shape of a Christmas tree, 14 layer red and green jello, Olive Garden Salad, lasagna with homemade noodles, Italian sausage, and vodka sauce, green beans and cherry tomatoes in balsamic sauce, and bittersweet chocolate-peppermint torte with a chocolate ganache coating. Man, it was good! We told them to put their Christmas shirts back on and wait to open a special present. hehe.). Chris...

Trunk or Treat 2011. For the first year ever, the kids costumes didn't match. Ugh. I was bummed, but they really wanted to be different things. I gave in this year, but next year, we're back to matching! Grant wanted to be a detective because he loves riddles and solving problems. So, here is our Sherlock Holmes! I found an easy tutorial for the hat and bought the magnifying glass. Easiest costume. Hayden really wanted Cosette to be Minnie. And she does make an adorable Minnie! And here they are together!

Seeker's Soul: Avoiding the Christmas crash

http://seekersoul.blogspot.com/2011/12/avoiding-christmas-crash.html

Personal musings from my spiritual and human journey as a Seeker of Truth. Thursday, December 8, 2011. Avoiding the Christmas crash. Day after Christmas - presents unwrapped, children cranky and bored, too much rich food eaten, tired and depressed, feels like the flu is coming on. Anyone else experience "Christmas crash"? 1 Decorating the house. 2 Writing holiday cards. 4 Holiday baking, meal-planning (with accompanying extra trips to grocery store). 6 Parties of all sorts (school, work, social). Personal musings from my spiritual and human journey as a Seeker of Truth. Tuesday, February 5, 2013. When a song breaks you open. Sometimes when I notice I haven't written anything in a long time, I realize it's because I have not too little to say, but too much. How do you sum up over 6 months worth of thoughts and musings that never got written down? Evanescence "Bring Me to Life". Soundtrack in my head. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Seeker's Soul: February 2011

http://seekersoul.blogspot.com/2011_02_01_archive.html

Personal musings from my spiritual and human journey as a Seeker of Truth. Wednesday, February 23, 2011. Hide and seek - Mom version. This morning I got to play Hide and Seek, adult style. Right after I discovered that Son's baritone horn mouthpiece did not seem to be in his backpack - or, in fact, anywhere. Did I mention his winter concert is TONIGHT? Frantic search in all reasonable places ensues, cut short by franticmaddashtobusstop. Which he caught by the skin of his teeth this morning. Mom realizes ...

One of my kids' favorite down-time activities is to sit with me on a lazy afternoon and laugh over LOLcats. I found this awwwwwsomeness today. See more Lolcats and funny pictures. And check out our Socially Awkward Penguin lolz! What more is there to say? Now here is a mom who REALLY gets it. Http:/ www.bbbautism.com/beginners beirut.htm. Spirituality is a h...

Seeker's Soul: My life has become an algebra problem

http://seekersoul.blogspot.com/2012/03/my-life-has-become-algebra-problem.html

Personal musings from my spiritual and human journey as a Seeker of Truth. Thursday, March 8, 2012. My life has become an algebra problem. You remember those word problems with all the conditions and you had to figure out the equation before you could solve for "x"? The ones like, if a train leaves Boston at 8AM traveling west at 30mph and another leaves Chicago at 9AM traveling east at 50mph how long will it take before they pass each other and in what city? Connor can't be dropped off before 8:25.

Late Nights with Trav and Los

Join Travis and Carlos for a late night discussion about being a healthy and productive professional in todays creative economy. Casual, fun, educational (maybe). Eddy said that the whole time He was thinking Process as in big company bureaucracy and red tape. It's not about that. I want to talk about the Creative Process. Why have a process at all? I get emails a lot from people who are frustrated with their own work. Trying to design before all the questions are answered. What is the process? On the Wi...

The Gines Family

Travis * Natalie * Addison * Hailey. Sunday, November 10, 2013. There is never a dull moment with these lovely ladies! I sure love being a Momma and am so grateful every day for these little stinkers. In February, Dad and Marty took a three week trip to New Zealand and Australia. I always learn a lot when Dad leaves on his long trips, and I get lots of hours in, but mostly I gain a greater appreciation for all that my Dad does. He really is one of the hardest workers I know!
