How to bargain at the market – Travel Responsibly.
https://travelconnectors.wordpress.com/2016/01/26/how-to-bargain-at-the-market
How to bargain at the market. January 26, 2016. January 22, 2016. I am horrible in bargaining! It’s usually making me uncomfortable and I often pay more than people who are better in bargaining. That’s why I do the little shopping that includes bargaining with Antony, who is great in it and often gets good deals. But bargaining is an art, and it needs to be approached carefully. What to bargain about. Clothes and shoes in markets or stalls. Furniture or anything handmade on the street or in a shop. Publi...

Should I pay for volunteering? February 20, 2016. February 18, 2016. Yes and no. First you need to evaluate your attitude. When travelling to Kenya for the first time, I used two organisations to get there. One German and one Kenyan one. The German organisation prepared me with two seminars and connected me to the Kenyan organisation. The Kenyan organisation connected me to an orphanage and two other projects where I could stay and volunteer. Counting money at a fundraising. Everybody was waiting for the...

How I travel on a low budget in Kenya. February 18, 2016. February 17, 2016. And why a change in perspective is the key to all richness. Just to warn you: This is much more a blog post on your own attitude and how it can help you deal with the money issue while travelling. It’s not a guide to budget travel. BUT: With the right perspective, money issues become much easier to handle. I went to Kenya as a volunteer because I didn’t have money. I lived very modest in Kenya. The fact that I am in a position t...

My grandmother thinks I’m a heroine. January 21, 2016. February 4, 2016. And she has all the reasons for that. Nobody in her family has ever before stepped on the African continent. Her father, who was a soldier during World War II, sent some photos of himself and some black men in France. He helped them when they were wounded, and my grandmother said they admired him and wanted to do everything for him down there in the trench. What my grandparents know about Africa. And that I don’t want to repeat here.

Why You Need A Personal Code And How to Create One
http://storylineblog.com/2015/08/03/personal-code
TURN WEBSITE BROWSERS INTO BUYERS. Why You Need A Personal Code And How to Create One. Recently I heard an interview with a prominent world leader who was asked about his formative years. One of the things he did that served him, he said, was to develop a code. And by code he meant a list of values by which he would live. Normally we think of mission statements and values as reserved for institutions. But individuals can have them too. So what’s your code? What’s your personal mission statement? I want t...

It makes people feel like they are animals in a zoo. So here’s some tips for when you go to a new country, whether it’s developing or not:. Ask before taking photos. We ended u...

All about the Creans in Kenya. Can you have Christmas without Candy Canes? January 4, 2017. It’s been a couple of years since we’ve been to a wildlife park that has elephants in it, and I really wanted to get away this Christmas to see them. Elephants eat a lot of food (100-300kg’s) and drink lots of water (190litres) and not all parks can cater for them. They also have routes that they follow. So, off we went to a place called the Tsavo Conservancy. Rukinga is split into three areas. There’s the ten...
