It’s used to describe money paid to end an agreement or contract, basically a pay off if you like but ‘kill fee’ sounds more exciting to me. I found it being used to describe the sum of ₤100,000 paid to Chris Evans by Channel 4. To stop him making any more crap programmes for the station. There’s something for Monday.
