Port Stanley to Buenos Aires | travelswithbj

https://travelswithbj.wordpress.com/2012/02/19/port-stanley-to-buenos-aires

Just another WordPress.com site. Port Stanley to Buenos Aires. February 6, 2012 Port Stanley, Falkland Islands. Port Stanley is a tender port and is subject to high winds (which we had) leading to an exciting 45-minute trip from the ship to the port. Wind and waves caused water to splash into the tender boat getting more than a few passengers wet; but Roberta and I were dry when we got ashore. The Rock Hoppers are about 2 to 3 feet tall with yellow feathers coming from the area of their ears. We were lat...

This giant rooster is the symbol of the largest Carnival club in Recife. It’s crowing opened up the Carnival. On our second day we went to Olinda. Their Carnival starts earlier and by afternoon it’s going strong. For lunch our group went out to an island beach. February 22, 2012 Cabedelo, Brazil. February 23, 2012 at sea.

The Antarctic Experience | travelswithbj

https://travelswithbj.wordpress.com/2012/02/18/the-antarctic-experience

Just another WordPress.com site. I’m still catching up. This blog covers our time in the Antarctic. February 1, 2012. During the night we passed Cape Horn and we are now into the Drake Passage. The rough seas and rolling continues as we venture further south into the Southern Ocean on our way to the Antarctic Peninsula. I attended lectures on Sea Birds of the Antarctic, The Antarctic Treaty: Managing an Unspoiled Continent , and History of US Involvement in the Antarctic. February 2, 2012. We continue to...

Amazonia to Devil’s Island | travelswithbj

https://travelswithbj.wordpress.com/2012/03/08/amazonia-to-devils-island

Just another WordPress.com site. Amazonia to Devil’s Island. March 4, 2012 Cruising the Amazon River. In my last blog I said that we would be leaving the Amazon River early this morning but I was mistaken. We continued down the Amazon heading in a northeasterly direction. This afternoon we crossed the equator back into the northern hemisphere (we crossed the equator 4 times during this voyage). Around 2 pm the King Neptune Ceremony was held to initiate crewmembers that had never crossed the equator.

Just another WordPress.com site. Belém, Brazil. February 25, 2012 Continued. Tonight the Prinsendam celebrated their 1. Annual Golden Raspberry awards. There were several categories; talent, best joke, best travel story, and most unusual picture. I entered a picture I took in the catacombs of the San Francisco Church in Lima. To my surprise, I was one of three finalists for the award. But alas I didn’t win. This was my entry:. February 26, 2012 Belém, Brazil. Across the street was the vegetable market.

Travels With Birds

Tuesday, 11 August 2015. Red-footed Falcon in Staffordshire, England. I have just returned from a birding trip to the UK and have begun the task of downloading and editing almost 1,500 pictures. When that is all done I will begin to write my trip report, but in the meantime this species deserves its own coverage. A Red-footed Falcon Falco vespertinus. The bird found the piles of horse manure convenient perches and the manure probably also attracted the insects upon which this species feeds. I am indebted...

travelswithbj | Just another WordPress.com site

Just another WordPress.com site. Home at last…. Chicago is having a record warm spell. We’ve had several days in the 80s that broke long-standing records for high temperature. I even got in 9 holes of golf on Thursday and Roberta and I were able to walk in the nearby park and eat lunch today on our porch! We’re busy washing and putting away the stuff we took on the trip. But things are getting back to normal. So I’ll be taking a break from blogging at least until I have a new topic. In Philipsburg it’s a...

Travels with Bliss

Friday, January 16, 2015. How did you train Bliss to do that? Every day, someone asks me how I got Bliss to "do that," whether it's basic obedience, amazing tricks or even sporting a pair of sunglasses! What motivates your dog most? Usually it is food, but toys and praise are two more motivators to put in your training toolbox. Many people are reluctant to train with treats, but why leave out the most powerful motivator, when once a behavior is solid, you can wean your dog off them? Which behavior earned...

Currently in Thailand -- Travels With Bob - Robert Lorimor's Asia Photography

Why must I travel to Asia? It's because I never know what I might see along the way. At least that's why I travel. I am always looking around the next corner to see what is there. Sometimes I am totally surprised by what I find. Come along as we roll along on the railroads in Thailand. or as we explore the market bazaars in the Philippines. or as we drive the dusty country roads in Iowa. Come along and see what you are missing. Bangkok, Thailand - 1998. Site designed and developed.
