Back in the Day. Down on the Farm. Lemuel (Bill) Copeland’s Website. I was the last of five boys born to a farm family near the town of Holland, Virginia in the Jim Crow South in 1936. Our home and our schools had no electricity or in-door plumbing. Over the years I have travelled extensively: to all but one of the states (Nebraska). Puerto Rico, Mexico, The Caribbean, Central and South America, all the Canadian Provinces, South Africa.

Our trip is almost over and I'm surprised at my sadness! 26 Into Sonoran Desert. This travel "blog" is almost over! The continental divide was pink and purple and yellow, high desert, alkaline flat plains, sunny, no wind (that's amazing) and 50 degrees at sunrise this AM. Snow in West Texas. Maks does not like it!

I ran the third leg, a tough, long climb, beginning at 5500 feet elevation and climbing 720 feet. Because two of our faster runners ran the first two legs, I started ahead of Team Fish. There is the risk you cannot afford to take and there is the risk you cannot afford not to take. –Peter Drucker. What an incredible journey. I am moving through layers of exhaustion, and layers of cultural realities. Maui- London- Spain- Camino el Norte’. Our walk began only yesterday and I already have three blisters, Daisy sprained her ankle and both Linden and I have pain that feels like if we are not careful we could get shin splints. I am limping my way down the trail and we have only just begun!
