I have looked forward to visiting the cemetery for a long time. Lincoln Memorial at one end of the National Mall. PS 2014 Brompton Cham...

Enjoying the Brompton-life in Central New York and beyond! Sunday, April 21, 2013. April 15, 2013. Taxes are done and in the post! After a thorough cleaning this morning, I mapped out a route that would take me on a 40 mile circuit of Syracuse that included a number of stops. Having never toured by bicycle, this is my attempt to somewhat simulate the experience, without being fully loaded at this point. Like Fernando at The Dirty Brompton. A beautiful day filled with sunshine! First stop was Heid's.

Enjoying the Brompton-life in Central New York and beyond! Sunday, January 6, 2013. New Year's Day Ride. January 1, 2013. While the snow had stopped falling and the wind was light, the temperature stood at 9F (-13C). So this meant some wearing serious kit to ride. Showers Pass Portland jacket, long sleeved tee shirt and a wool/cotton base layer. Tights under hiking-style pants. Gloves and buff. My family thought I was crazy. I had thought to see if I could find a cup of coffee downtown before I headed ba...

Enjoying the Brompton-life in Central New York and beyond! Monday, April 14, 2014. For touring with the Brompton, I use a Kelty Redwing backpack that I hang off the back of my seat and strap down to the rack. I stole this idea from Russ and Laura and their blog, where they show how to do this. Russ used a piece of dowel that he strapped to the saddle's attachment holes with pedal clip toe straps. I tried this technique. I thought that the tees would allow me to use the toe straps to hold the assembly mor...

Enjoying the Brompton-life in Central New York and beyond! Sunday, April 13, 2014. Syracuse to Buffalo by Brompton. June 10, 2013. I finished packing everything up into the Brompton touring bag and the Kelty backpack,. And I loaded them on the bicycle. The rain kept up for the whole day. Sometimes it was less and sometimes more, but pretty much it kept coming down all day! The triangle is the Kelty Noah's tarp. I had debated about bringing it, because it is heavy. Now I am very glad I did! On the first d...

The Unfolded Path: October 2012

Enjoying the Brompton-life in Central New York and beyond! Tuesday, October 30, 2012. October 11, 2012. I had business in Albany, and I wanted to try to make the trip without my car using only the Brompton and public transportation. While others in many places around the world routinely do this, in this part of New York State, people see this as an oddity. "If you own a car, why would you bicycle? You use the train? Nobody seemed to mind that I didn't have a car to list on my hotel registration. I've fou...

I can't even get my mind around what if must be like to live and ride in an environment like David Hembrow describes in his blog based in the Netherlands. And ride around this place.
