Pettijohn.com: Windows 8 Hardware
http://www.pettijohn.com/2012/06/windows-8-hardware.html
Friday, June 08, 2012. Last week at Computex, we saw a number of new hardware devices taking advantage of the new touch capabilities in Windows 8. From touchscreen ultrabooks. To the craziest PC I’ve ever seen, the Taichi, which has two full HD screens. One on either side of its lid. All this choice begs the question: what use cases do I hope to achieve with this hybrid desktop/touch OS/hardware future? Heavy email and presentations. Again, tied to my livelihood. A physical keyboard is desirable. I typic...

Pettijohn.com: Convert Mac Pages to HTML in Powershell
http://www.pettijohn.com/2011/12/convert-mac-pages-to-html-in-powershell.html
Saturday, December 17, 2011. Convert Mac Pages to HTML in Powershell. A very crude Mac Pages to HTML converter in Powershell. Preserves no formatting save for line breaks. Useful to extract the text so you can paste into Word. A pages file is a Zip; extract it to get the index.xml file. And parse out the paragraphs. Note there's also a preview.pdf in the zip if all you need is to print. Pass the .pages file on the command line. Pages-ToHtml.ps1 '. Path To File.pages' Converted.html.

Pettijohn.com: Enabling IPv6 on Comcast with Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH
http://www.pettijohn.com/2011/06/enabling-ipv6-on-comcast-with-buffalo.html
Thursday, June 09, 2011. Enabling IPv6 on Comcast with Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH. I'm running Buffalo's latest (as of this writing) DD-WRT firmware. The DD-WRT IPv6 tutorial is in the ballpark, but didn't work for my setup. See the section on 6rd. For Comcast-specific scripts; for me, the script never succeeded on startup (I presume because the WAN wasn't up before the script was executed). Here's what actually worked:. In the web interface, Administration / Management. Apply, and then reboot the router.

Sunday, November 12, 2006. T-Mobile Dash and Media Center goodness. Ok, this is cool. Really, really cool. Long story short: I can automatically synchronize TV shows recorded on my Media Center box to my Windows Mobile smartphone. Read on. Friday I picked up a T-Mobile Dash. If you're not familiar with this device, it is the. Windows Mobile device to have right now. It's slim, sleek, usable and downright sexy to hold in your hand. A half-hour show ends up being about 30 MB. Back in Media Player, I create...

Tuesday, January 03, 2012. Personal Cell Phone Timeline. For the sake of nostalgia, a trip down cell-phone memory lane. In blue. My first phone ever. What a great, little, itty-bitty feature phone. Not entirely sure of the carrier or model number, but I’m picking 8260 since Cingular/TDMA seems right. C2004: Motorola V400 Camera Phone. Cingular GSM. I actually forgot I owned this phone and never would have remembered the model number had I not found an old email from when I sold it on eBay. 2009: iPhone 3...

http://www.pettijohn.com/2012/07/self-driving-cars-taxis-and-rentals.html
Wednesday, July 18, 2012. Self-Driving Cars, Taxis, and Rentals. A prediction about the future, 2017 or 2020 or so:. In this world, easily-ordered self-driving cars will replace taxis, shared car services and rental car companies. Why go through the hassle of booking a time slot in the shared car and worry about getting it back on time when it's just as cheap to order a self-driving car? Not to mention driving! Driving is so.pedestrian.so 2012. But will there still be beads on the seats? Live in Seattle&...

Pettijohn.com: Audiovox SMT 5600
http://www.pettijohn.com/2005/06/audiovox-smt-5600.html
Monday, June 20, 2005. I got a new cell phone today, the Audiovox SMT 5600. So far, I've been really impressed. It runs the Windows Mobile 2003 SE operating system, so it syncs with Outlook beautifully and effortlessly. I did have trouble getting my laptop to recognize the device when plugged in via a USB cable. A trip to Best Buy to pick up a Bluetooth USB adapter fixed that problem. I can sync wirelessly and get pass-through Internet access via ActiveSync. Originally authored by jason. Subscribe to: Po...

Pettijohn.com: HTC Diamond
http://www.pettijohn.com/2008/10/htc-diamond.html
Wednesday, October 08, 2008. I just picked up an HTC Diamond. From Sprint. It's by far the best mobile phone I've owned. The display is just jaw-dropping. It's pretty speedy, and the TouchFlo 3D interface is a nice step forward. It's not as good as the iPhone, and every now and then Windows Mobile 6.1 rears its ugly stylus-head, but most things tick along with just my thumb. A few tweaks I've made:. Remove the Sprint Music link from the music player. A few registry tweaks. View my complete profile.
