Lamp Conversion — Travis Emmel

http://www.travisemmel.com/2013/11/01/lampconversion

I like building things. DOA halogen donor lamp. For the bulbs, I decided to go with 20mA, flat top, 5mm, wide angle, 22k white LEDs sourced from eBay. I used a standard acrylic plate as a mounting bed and laid out the bulbs in 3 concentric rings (template). The bulbs were wired together in series in groups of three with a corresponding resistor and then each bulbset wired in parallel to form the rings. LEDs installed in acrylic mounting plate.

Reliability Trays — Travis Emmel

http://www.travisemmel.com/2013/10/31/trays

I like building things. Due to non-disclosure stipulations, the pictures for this project have been removed. That met the temperature and moisture requirements and by adding carbon, it was determined that we’d be able to meet the resistivity value as well. Trays would need to be designed to hold a multitude of chip sizes, ranging from 2 - 9mm. The chips would need to remain contained in their individual cells, regardless of tray orientation. The trays needed to be stackable.

Automated Blinds — Travis Emmel

http://www.travisemmel.com/2013/11/05/blinds

I like building things. The project requirements were:. Fully automated opening and closing of the blinds. Ability to control the blinds wirelessly via smart phone and through the internet. Integrate with existing Z-Wave network. Clean, self-contained installation. Servo used to drive the opening and closing of the blind slats. The gear mounted on the servo shaft was taken from the blind’s original gearbox. Arduino installed on a PCB to be installed in the frame of the blinds. With everything buttoned up...

Reliability Trays — Travis Emmel

http://www.travisemmel.com/2013/11/06/OvenRacks

I like building things. The design and production of modular oven racks for semiconductor component testing. A local semiconductor company needed to improve on the existing shelf-based system in their component testing ovens so I designed and fabricated a modular replacement system utilizing sliding trays that would integrate seamlessly with the oven's existing hardware and mounting points. Fully assembled drawer with mounted PCB and backplane. Completed racks installed in the oven.

Weight Sensor — Travis Emmel

http://www.travisemmel.com/2013/11/02/weight-sensor

I like building things. Integration between home theater and various sensors. The inspiration for this project came from wanting to accomplish something in-line with the following scenarios:. Bedroom Scenario #1: When getting up in the middle of the night, a scene is triggered that brings the lights leading to the bathroom up to 20% brightness and when returning to bed, turns them off. Two-piece puck that houses the spring and switch. The donut shaped relief in the center provides a mounting feature ...

The Blog of Travis J. Engebretson

The Blog of Travis J. Engebretson. On March 23, 2015. First time on a racetrack? While living in Canada, I was a part of a large exotic car club that frequented the local racetrack. At the time, Race City (now defunct), was a 3.2km road course with 11 turns. I found the racetrack to be the perfect place to hone driving skills in a safe and controlled environment. The video below was filmed at my first (of many) track days. You will be nervous. Your instructor will show you the ropes. Posted in Exotic cars.
