Welcome to Treadle LadyMemories of my precious grandmother are why I treadle
In 1954 my grandmother taught me to treadle in her little adobe house in El Paso, Texas. She had a Singer treadle sewing machine with a long bobbin and mysterious Egyptian decals. With scraps I made a shoe box full of doll clothes for my chubby baby doll. Those were the pre-Barbie doll days, before the wasp waistline, long legs and cleavage. Welcome to Treadle Lady. Memories of my precious grandmother are why I treadle. During the slide presentation they would meet some of my nicknamed sewing machines an...

TreadleOn - A Site for People-Powered Sewing Machine Users
Welcome to Treadle On! TreadleOn is dedicated to promoting the use of antique and vintage human powered sewing machines, i.e. treadle sewing machines and hand crank sewing machines. It is the home base and resource centre for the Treadle On Internet E-Mail List - for active users of treadle and hand crank sewing machines. The site was built, managed, and tickled into shape by Richard Wightman, who was and is a power to be reckoned with. Many pages are written in the First Person, and he is that person.
Southern Outpost - Treadle On
Treadle On is the inspiration of Richard Wightman of Seattle, WA. The purpose of Treadle On is to promote the actual use of, as opposed to the collecting of, treadle and hand crank sewing machines. The emphasis is on the "people powered" aspect, rather than just age, and some members are using treadles of current manufacture. A visit to the main website for Treadleon.
