My Woodworking Projects

Saturday, May 02, 2009. So Susan and I set to work. We got the disks and pipes hanging in one evening. Then I suspended them from rings, added the main central rope and "knockers", and finally the wind flapper things. The wood is all cedar, left over from making oval boxes for Christmas gifts. For the main rope I braided 4 strands. For my own I went with plain white cordage. And here they are, side by side. Posted by Tim B. @ 7:41 PM. Monday, April 27, 2009. Susan's Wine Bottle Stopper gift - Complete.

My Woodworking Projects: Clipboards

http://treebeau2.blogspot.com/2008/06/clipboards.html

Monday, June 23, 2008. A friend gave me a clipboard last year for my birthday. It was really nice, but small. More than likely she couldn't afford one that was hand made and would hold an 8.5 by 11 sheet of paper, but it was BEAUTIFUL anyway. I thought that I could make them too. For Christmas I made wine bottle stoppers for family members.well, for everyone that was of legal drinking age. For 3 nephews I intended to give clipboards. But I ran out of time, so I gave them "IOUs". View my complete profile.

My Woodworking Projects: February 2006

http://treebeau2.blogspot.com/2006_02_01_archive.html

Monday, February 27, 2006. Phil (on the mountaintop) from Western NC, an excellent and respected woodturner, sent me some of his cutoffs. Included in this was a piece of what he called "Ambrosia Maple." I think others refer to this look as "spalted.". The Ambrosia Maple will be good for a few pens. Here is the first one. It is intended to be for the wife of my neighbor. I made HIM a walnut pen earlier in the afternoon and did this one in the evening. These are 3 pictures of the same pen. 2 My very first ...

My Woodworking Projects: August 2007

http://treebeau2.blogspot.com/2007_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 16, 2007. Wine bottle stoppers 8 thu 12. Was able to do 5 of them today:. Can you tell that I enjoyed burning some rings today? The one on the left makes me think of an Olympic flame. The one in the middle of a pepper mill. The 4th one of an Imperial Storm Trooper from "Star Wars". The one on the right makes me think of an atomic bomb blast. Also I had time to drill a block of 2x4 to hold what has been done so far:. I'm now about halfway done with what I'm giving as Christmas gifts.

My Woodworking Projects: December 2008

http://treebeau2.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

Saturday, December 06, 2008. Oval Boxes for Christmas. This year the people on my Christmas list will get a hand made oval box, either cedar or poplar (my choice). I followed directions that I found in a magazine. Here are the two stacks of finished boxes.30 in all. And here is a little detail. I autographed and dated them, made a little info card describing the wood, and inserted a pair of candy canes. Posted by Tim B. @ 5:56 AM. Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States. My Woodworking Projects: Wine bottle stoppers 6 and 7.

http://treebeau2.blogspot.com/2007/08/wine-bottle-stoppers-6-and-7.html

Wednesday, August 15, 2007. Wine bottle stoppers 6 and 7. Did two in sycamore today. I know that some wiseguy would say "Why don't you make a wine bottle stopper that looks like a wine bottle? So that's what I did. As for the other, I thought that it may be important to have some short ones so that if someone wants to put their bottle in a refrigerator, the shorter size will help. Treebeau: January 2005

http://treebeau.blogspot.com/2005_01_01_archive.html

Thursday, January 27, 2005. I have an old lathe that I bought about 9th hand from an old guy in Thomasville, NC. He had gotten it from a flea market. I gave him $100 for it. Works ok, but needs some fixing, and so far can be done cheaply. 1 Too lightweight. I bolted the lathe to a worktable that wasn't being used and put some bags of concrete underneath. Beefs it up pretty nicely. Cost: $0. Had all the stuff already. Cost: About $7.50. (3 knobs at $2.50 each). Posted by Tim B. @ 4:40 PM. Started the fram...

Treebeau: April 2005

http://treebeau.blogspot.com/2005_04_01_archive.html

Thursday, April 28, 2005. I have a new closet door! I used scrap wood to fabricate a patch for the bottom, then fastened it in place with nails and a finish air nailer. That leaves little impressions to be filled in. I installed the hinge leaves and hung the door. It looks "pretty good" but can be made a lot better by paring a little more wood from the top hinge recess. 10 minutes work and the door should be great. The room will be finished after I paint this door and do some touch up baseboard work.

Treebeau: March 2005

http://treebeau.blogspot.com/2005_03_01_archive.html

Thursday, March 31, 2005. I have a recliner that has been wobbly for awhile. Not long ago I opened the flap on the back (held down by Velcro) to get any stray jelly beans, popcorn, and change. A sheared off bolt head fell out. As I looked around for where that came from I found that it was part of the support for the reclining mechanism. Fixing that should mean fixing the wobble. Opened it up again and found ANOTHER sheared off bolt on the other side! Posted by Tim B. @ 3:03 PM. Over the past couple of d...

Treebeau: February 2005

http://treebeau.blogspot.com/2005_02_01_archive.html

Friday, February 25, 2005. Plans for the weekend. 1 Paint my office/music room. This room has been emptied, cleaned, and masked to receive the paint. 2 Go to a youth "battle of the bands" with some friends to watch their kids perform. 3 Help a friend move a piano that she just purchased. 4 Work on my "butterfly table" project. 5 Do some more trailer wiring checkout. 6 Buy and install molding for the kitchen window. 7 Buy and install a couple more rolls of attic blanket insulation. So I set the tail light...

Monday, January 07, 2013. How did I do? Hard to believe that it has been almost a year since my last blog entry. I do spend much more time at Facebook, putting up pictures and blurbs, rather than in Blogger telling stories. What I said I wanted to do:. Finish more projects than I start (especially the dresser project that was started years ago and is close to done). Well, I didn't finish MUCH, but I did make progress on things, didn't start too many things, AND finished the dresser! Get the teardrop trai...

TreeBed Design

Friday, July 24, 2015. This past Father's Day, exactly 11 years since saying goodbye to my dad for last time… I was ready to open that journal. I recognized a new feeling on my path of grief. I felt a strength and connection to my grief as part of my journey, but not the definition of who I am. I was ready to sing, and be free. Free from the locked room of my own hurt, and ready to open myself to the beautiful world of joy (and pain) that exists for our open hearts. Friday, January 2, 2015. Another holid...
