In 2003 Travis moved to the Appalachian mountains of Western North Carolina where he partnered with Joe Frank McKee to open "Tree House Pottery" and establish the WNC Pottery Festival. His work continues to evolve inspired by nature. Travis is an accomplished potter and a highly respected member of The Southern Highlands (Appalachian) Craft Guild. Not much has changed since school. You can still find him in the studio 24/7 throwing and talking.

About Joe Frank McKee

Joe Frank McKee is originally from Abilene, Texas. He received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from McMurry University in May, 1993, and a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of North Texas in December, 1996. He went on to open McKee's Pottery in Ingram, Texas, before co-founding Tree House Pottery in Dillsboro, NC, in May, 2003.

Treehouse Pottery features the work of ceramic artist Wendy Mitchell-Burke. Wendy graduated from Sheridan College's School of Craft and Design, and opened Treehouse Pottery after moving to beautiful Belfountain. She uses hand-building and wheel thrown techniques to produce both functional and decorative ware, using both stoneware and porcelain. In addition to producing beautiful ceramic pieces of her own design, Wendy is also happy to produce commissioned pieces meeting your own requirements.
