However, when it is a vowel day, they get to put on the vowel puppets and we sing the vowel song. 5 Little vowel boys. are we. There's A and O and I and E. There's another brother too. Mrs. Stites' first grade class: M & M's graphing project

Sunday, September 7, 2014. M and M's graphing project. Each child received a cup of M and M's. The estimated how many M and M's were in the cup. Then they counted the M and M's. Next, they sorted the M and M's by color. Then the boys and girls. Graphed the results on a color chart graph. We compared results. And last. they got to EAT the M and M's. What a yummy way to learn! Friday, April 12, 2013. Thanksgiving centers in both 1st grades. Making a button yo-yo toy. Grinding wheat in order to have flour to make our bread. Ball and cup toy. The 2nd round of children making the button yo-yo toy. Trying to catch the ball in the cup. You have to spin and spin and spin it to make it go like a yo-yo. Saturday, September 28, 2013. Apple centers in Mrs. Dye's classroom. Making apple smiles with apples slices and marshmallows for teeth. Painting apple trees. They traced their arms and hand for the trunk and branches. Then sponge painted the leaves and used a cork to paint the apples. Playing apple memory with reading vocabulary words. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. Dr Finkler shows dinosaur bones. Anna's father Dr. Finkler brought his dinosaur specimens from IUK to share with the first grade children. He brought a footprint, some skulls, a replica of an egg, along with other dinosaur parts. including some dinosaur poo! The children enjoyed his visit. Wednesday, October 31, 2012. Our special student of the week lives in a house that is creamy with bricks with his Daddy, his mommy and his sister. He has a puppy named Puppy, and cats named Jake, Juliette and Logan. He also has a bearded dragon named Leo and a fish named Fishy. Hi. S favorite color is blue because it is a cool boy color. His favorite subject is Gym because he likes to run laps. Hi. S favorite TV show is ‘Goosebumps’, and his favorite book is Goosebumps. Likes to eat Chicken and dumplings.
