Trent pulled in to Elim at 123AM this morning (Saturday morning) after a 6 hour 37 minute, 7.25 mph runover the 48 miles from Koyuk Trent stayed in Elim overnight for just under 8 hours and left this morning at 820AM with 12 dogs. The Musher

Trent Herbst is a 4th grade teacher living in Ketchum, Idaho. He has taught elementary students for 16 years in Argentina, Dominican Republic, Germany, Switzerland before settling in Idaho in 2007. Teaching is a huge part of Trent’s life and he incorporates this unique sport into his classroom. Typically, his students are constructing race sleds and snowshoes. They will also help by measuring dog food, sorting gear and making the musher meals for the race. Trent is excited to back on the Iditarod Trail!

Meet the 2016 team! This year we are racing. From Ed and Tasha Stielstra's Nature's Kennel. Mainly rookies, with a few veterans from previous races. The pack is mainly gals, Ayn is back from last year and is Queen Bee of the pack. Blast is back from last year and one of the few lucky boys on the team. Our handler this year is Jake Swift, back for his second year and another bite at the apple. We're glad to have him. We've had an outstanding snow year and training year here in Idaho. 7 - 18.
