November 4, 2014. Second option is to use a waterproof bitumen 'paint'. I use the term paint very loosely here, as it's more like painting with syrup. I used a heavy brush and slapped the footings with a heavy layer, and ended up for speed/convenience's sake using it on some of the walls also. With the footings poured and boards removed, next was reseting all the string guide lines and projecting the wall perimeters from those lines down to the footings so that the cleats could be fixed in place. Additional rebar was added to reinforce the walls ( Interesting fact. Did you know that concrete and steel expand at exactly at the same rate? I am doing this. Of course I may get to the glorious end and flip it. Nothing is set in stone at this point. ;). 3: Version 5.1.
