This is a figure drawing of Rosemary was finished in about 20 hours on Stonehenge paper toned with Nu-Pastel. I lightly blocked in the entire figure with sepia lead and developed the contour. Next I lifted the chalk with for the lights with a knead-able eraser and cross-hatched with the sepia lead for additional form shadows and dark lights. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Following the path of realism in my art. Friday, March 4, 2011. Sometimes it is good to have multiple projects going at the same time. Well, it also might get a bit overwhelming, too. Right now, I'm juggling a few; I've got 3 commissions lining up and a project with my mentor. Wayne is looking great - so nice to see. Keep up the beautiful work! March 6, 2011 at 12:00 AM. Thank you so much! Im letting this one sit for a bit and will get back to it later. There is plenty left to do on it. Painting since 19...

INTO THE LIGHT: Horny Toad?
http://deborahallison.blogspot.com/2010/04/horny-toad.html
Following the path of realism in my art. Friday, April 30, 2010. The Poetry of Things" is a 9" x12" oil on linen board completed for a show celebrating the horny toad. Since I couldn't get one to sit for me, I decided to do a still life with the sculpture of the lizard. The title actually comes from the title of the book in the piece. In any case, I really like it. INTO THE LIGHT: New stuff
http://deborahallison.blogspot.com/2010/02/new-stuff.html
Following the path of realism in my art. Saturday, February 6, 2010. Since the last posting, I've worked on a sign painting (with preprinted paper border), an oil sketch of Wayne's son and I've rehung the gallery wall after feedback that it was too much stuff. I like the portrait! There is something nice about the slight sketchiness. It feels very pleasant, soft, yet informed by the light. I hope all is well there. February 7, 2010 at 9:48 AM. INTO THE LIGHT: Back to real people!
http://deborahallison.blogspot.com/2010/05/back-to-real-people.html
Following the path of realism in my art. Friday, May 14, 2010. Back to real people! Jan is a dear friend who agreed to model for me. Such patience! This is on 18x24 tinted paper, done in graphite and white charcoal. Sure enjoyed working from a live model again! Candace X. Moore. Very convincing, Deborah. The hair really grabs the eye. Im also working a piece with this media combination. There is something very special about the combination of 3 colors, creates lots of interest. May 14, 2010 at 6:31 PM.
