Tri Nations Rugby

Wednesday, 12 October 2011. A new breed of coach? This is all wrong, say the critics. The coach's job is to lay down the law, and the players should carry out his plan to the best of their ability - even blindly. And let's face it, this is pretty much the traditional role of a coach, particularly in an autocratic society like South Africa. Peter de Villiers may not have been the most technical coach, but I believe he deserves far more credit than he has been given. Who knows, he may just have provide...

Friday, 25 June 2010. Tri Nations 2010 Fixtures. Well, with the Super 14 out of the way for another year and the mid-year south versus north matches almost finished, it's time to start focussing on tri nations 2010. The Springboks, All Blacks and Wallabies have once again confirmed their positions as the top three teams in world rugby, and we can look forward to some hard-fought tussles as the teams continue their preparations for next year's world cup. Tri Nations Rugby: June 2009

http://trinationsrugby.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Tuesday, 23 June 2009. Tri Nations Travel: what's the deal? Hardly a season goes by without us hearing about how South African teams are at a disadvantage in the Super 14 and Tri Nations rugby. Tournaments because of travel arrangements. But why should this be? After all, both competitions feature a mixture of home and away matches, so at first glance it would appear all even. But this is such a constant refrain that I have to check it out myself, once and for all. Changes in blood pressure and heart rate.

Tri Nations Rugby: July 2010

http://trinationsrugby.blogspot.com/2010_07_01_archive.html

Monday, 19 July 2010. Round 2 result: All Blacks 31-17 Springboks. The All Blacks underlined their recent excellent form with another emphatic win over the Springboks on Saturday. They came out and continued from where they left off in the previous match, playing with confidence, enthusiasm and an intensity that the Springboks just couldn't contain at times. The All Blacks now have a week off, while the Springboks prepare themselves for a must-win encounter with the Wallabies in Brisbane. Replacements: C...

Tri Nations Rugby: August 2009

http://trinationsrugby.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 26 August 2009. IRB Threatens Springbok World Cup Ban. The IRB has at long last published the findings of the independent review of the Bakkies Botha "Justice 4" incident which took place in the third British Lions test. Quite frankly I find it ridiculous that the IRB could even make such a statement. I very much doubt that they would be able to follow through on the threat even if they wanted to, but in my opinion it is the IRB which has really brought rugby into disrepute. I truly hope this ...

Tennis Chump: August 2009

http://tennischump.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Trials and tribulations of a recreational tennis player. In the last few weeks I've been enjoying watching some of the fantastic hard-court action in the buildup to the US Open which starts next week, It always amazes me how hard the pros hit the ball, but still with such a high level of consistency. It's obviously a result of extremely good hand-eye co-ordination coupled with hours out on the practice courts. I'm sure it would make a huge difference to my game. Who do you think's going to win, and why?

Trials and tribulations of a recreational tennis player. The Importance of Mental Fitness in Tennis. Flexibility is the next component. Physical flexibility allows you to get into different positions in order to react to whatever shot is being sent your way. Mental flexibility does the same, though instead of being able to stretch your body, you can stretch your mind. You could look at this time of flexibility as creativity and the ability to control your emotions throughout the game. No matter how physi...

Tennis Chump: What a difference a year makes

http://tennischump.blogspot.com/2010/06/what-difference-year-makes.html

Trials and tribulations of a recreational tennis player. What a difference a year makes. Fast forward to 2010 and the two met again in the quarter finals, but this time Soderling was like that kid who'd had sand kicked in his face by the bully, then gone away and worked out so he could take revenge the next time they met. His powerful serve and groundstrokes were simply too much for Federer to handle today and Soderling won in four sets. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). That's chump as in.

Trials and tribulations of a recreational tennis player. Hawk-Eye's impact on tennis. Who remembers John McEnroe's famous "You cannot be serious! Rant at Wimbledon 1981 when disputing a close line call with the officials? That, and many other similar incidents involving any number of other players throughout the years have provided an interesting sideshow to the tennis action. But when was the last time you saw such a heated exchange over a close line call? Tennis is a team sport. Team sports also have a...

Rugby Autumn Internationals: October 2009

http://rugbyautumninternationals.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html

Wednesday, 7 October 2009. Got your tickets for England versus Australia yet? Or Wales versus New Zealand? If so, where did you buy them? Ticket terms and conditions. Of course, this is a worst-case scenario - I'm sure most such transactions work out just fine. It's just a pity that the current system creates such a fertile breeding ground in which the touts can flourish and prey upon the enthusiasm that genuine supporters have for the game and for following their team. What can you do? You could try joi...
