How safe is a kayak, can it overturn? Most kayaks are built small and streamlined. Someone weighing say over two hundred and fifty pounds may be a bit to heavy for the kayak. You also need to be reasonably fit. Two to three hours of kayaking is equivalent to a solid workout! However, You are provided with a life jacket, so you need not be a good swimmer.
