The Block : Community on Columbia: Feast of Pentecost
http://churchontheblock.blogspot.com/2010/02/block.html
Community on Columbia in East Dallas. 160; About us. 160; Beliefs. 160; Podcasts. 160; Homelessness. 160; Discipleship Contact. Monday, April 19, 2010. We had a great Feast of Passover celebration! Now we're looking toward Pentecost. To count the omer means to "reckon" his resurrection in us; and to acknowledge it in how we respond to life each day. Each of the 49 days represents a Gate of Impurity. Please download the Pentecost memo. Mon-Fri&#...

The Wittenburg Door Magazine: Help us cease from striving
http://wittenblogdoor.blogspot.com/2008/07/help-us-cease-from-striving.html
The Wittenburg Door Magazine. Monday, July 14, 2008. Help us cease from striving. If you're burned out on televangelist appeals for money, megachurch ministry-bloat and evangelical politics, it might be refreshing to take a look at an organization that's trying to give a life-long, no-strings-attached hug to a few million of the poorest, dirtiest, most despised people on earth. I dropped in on Gospel for Asia's. But then, this Dalit's prayer caught me off guard: "Lord, help us cease from striving.".

The Wittenburg Door Magazine: Next, the 'Soylent Green' Bible
http://wittenblogdoor.blogspot.com/2008/10/next-soylent-green-bible.html
The Wittenburg Door Magazine. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. Next, the 'Soylent Green' Bible. On the religious publishing scene, and has even received a stamp of approval from the Sierra Club. The new version, which costs $29.95, "will equip and encourage you to see God's vision for creation and help you engage in the work of healing and sustaining it.". This New Revised Standard Version published by HarperCollins. The only drawback is that the book is not totally edible. Why do we need a Green Bible. In one...

The Wittenburg Door Magazine: Too bad I'm not available....
http://wittenblogdoor.blogspot.com/2009/03/too-bad-im-not-available.html
The Wittenburg Door Magazine. Tuesday, March 17, 2009. Too bad I'm not available. No responses yet- so check it out:. I'm not including a photo. I'm sure this will cost me some points, but I hope I can make them up elsewhere on the form. It's sort of a bold move, don't you think? Kinda makes a statement about the impermanence of the flesh and the temporary nature of our physical existence. Besides, I never seem to show up in photos. or in mirrors. Hmm. Someone just like me, except sorta foreign-looking.

The Wittenburg Door Magazine: July 2008
http://wittenblogdoor.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html
The Wittenburg Door Magazine. Tuesday, July 22, 2008. Beastie: Tip of apocalyptic iceberg. There's am alarming development that I see eventually causing the breakdown of civilization as we know it. Consider the story of Dr. Arnold Kim, physician-turned-blogger. On the doomed Titanic. But there's something socially and morally wrong about Arnold Kim, who heads up MacRumors.com. The website of Apple gossip and rumor, leaving his medical practice . to blog. This truly fills me with dread. Think of the conse...

The Wittenburg Door Magazine: The Olympics, and achievement just out of reach
http://wittenblogdoor.blogspot.com/2008/08/olympics-and-achievement-just-out-of.html
The Wittenburg Door Magazine. Wednesday, August 20, 2008. The Olympics, and achievement just out of reach. Before our morning Bible study some of us walk up to the local coffee shop, bypassing Starbucks. We're friends with the owners and the staff and we've been walking up there almost every day for a decade. Many of us have such stories- the if-only tales of fame and success just out of reach. If-only tales. We've learned to embrace these missteps in life, because without them, we might have missed ...

The Wittenburg Door Magazine: April 2008
http://wittenblogdoor.blogspot.com/2008_04_01_archive.html
The Wittenburg Door Magazine. Monday, April 21, 2008. We knew someone would step in to fill the shoes of Charleton Heston. But . Captain Kirk? It's too late for Passover, but you can hear William Shatner's unique vocal stylings as he reads passages from the book of Exodus and the Passover Haggadah, accompanied by the Arkansas Symphony Orchestra playing music from Exodus: An Oratorio In Three Parts. Didn't know Shatner was Jewish? All four of the Star Trek. So he's got street cred for this role. ZODIAC Vo...
