Thursday, January 12, 2017. Church life has some interesting terms and customs. Take "Ordinary Time," for example. Ordinary time is sometimes used in liturgical traditions to designate two different stretches:. 1) the time following The Feast of the Baptism of Our Lord (the first Sunday after the Epiphany, January 6) through the Tuesday before the beginning of Lent;. 2) the time after Trinity Sunday (the first Sunday after Pentecost) through the Saturday the day before the First Sunday of Advent. Mother Dawn's Blog: May 2016

http://trinitystpaul.blogspot.com/2016_05_01_archive.html

Thursday, May 5, 2016. Forty days have come and gone. Forty days since we celebrated the news that the tomb is empty and Jesus lives. During these forty days Jesus is once again with His followers. He continues to teach them and to prepare them for this moment. Jesus cannot stay with them in His earthly body for ever. If Jesus does not return to God, then the Holy Spirit cannot be with them (John 16:7-8). I love the way Teresa of Avila puts it:. Christ has no body but yours,. Compassion on this world,.

Thursday, December 22, 2016. Our Presiding Bishop has been great at challenging us to claim out role as the Episcopal branch of The Jesus Movement. Recently he posted a wonderful picture and caption that really to get to the heart of the Christmas season. This is why the Babe of Bethlehem became flesh and dwelt among us (cf. John 1). Merry Christmas to you and yours! May God bless you in the New Year! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). SERMON: A Peaceable Kingdom. View my complete profile.

Mother Dawn's Blog: August 2016

Thursday, August 18, 2016. The Growing Church, Part II. Hen I was in seminary at St. Paul School of Theology, the Rector of the Episcopal Church I attended had a favorite saying. Several times I remember Father Bruce proclaiming, “the Church is not a museum of saints . . . it is a hospital for the sick.”. This is true of Christ’s universal church as well as the local units that make up His Church. What does it look like when the local church is “there for others”? Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Mother Dawn's Blog: March 2016

http://trinitystpaul.blogspot.com/2016_03_01_archive.html

Friday, March 25, 2016. 8220;Father, forgive them, for they know not what they do”. How easy it would be. How easy it would be at a time like this to offer words of hate or accusation. To call down the whole army of heaven and see justice served. After all, He is the Son of God. He has done nothing to deserve a criminal’s death. Yet here Jesus is, on the cross, asking God to pardon those who put Him there. Asking God to forgive you and me. God answers that prayer! P—Pray for the other person but al...

Mother Dawn's Blog: February 2016

http://trinitystpaul.blogspot.com/2016_02_01_archive.html

Thursday, February 25, 2016. Grace, Grace, God's Grace. A few weeks back I started a discussion on grace. The basic definition of grace is God's unmerited, undeserved favor. In other words grace is the love of God which cannot be earned no matter what you and I say or do. God's grace is a gift that comes from God's steadfast, unconditional love of us. Anglican priest (and founder of the Methodists) John Wesley describes three kinds, or degrees, of grace. Preventing, or prevenient, grace. Some feel that i...
