Bruce's Bike Blog

Thursday, July 09, 2015. Eagle Wing Rides Again. Eagle Wing and John. I made a trip down to Tucson - had work and things to do and really just wanted to escape the Rez for awhile and see friends. Now it's a 9 and half hour drive, and I got to tell you - it's a long long day driving. But I got some comp-time, mainly from a few weekends of working with a consultant for The College, so I ended up with four full days in Dog Mtn. Wing is back in the saddle I'm happy to report, Gentle Readers of This Blog!

Bruce's Bike Blog: February 2014

http://triplebranch.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html

Sunday, February 23, 2014. Ride In Beauty - Visitor Center Canyon de Chelly. A cold and windy ride this weekend. I'm learning that although temps are reported in the mid-50s to almost 60, it does not really feel that way! Ha ha ha ha - the sun is intense and bright like my Tucson Days, but I'm at 7200 feet elevation - so it's not actually that warm. The Library has a maintenance hatch - a ladder that leads to the hatch, and then onto the roof. The wind ripped the hatch off roof with a shriek! Saturday mo...

Bruce's Bike Blog: June 2014

http://triplebranch.blogspot.com/2014_06_01_archive.html

Sunday, June 22, 2014. Summer in the High Country. The Wind has been fierce - it kept me inside after work, and on the weekends. First Day of Summer and the Wind has died down - so really need this time to get out on the bike and ride, Gentle Readers of This Blog. Last time I think I rode was June 6th, in Bozeman! A few weeks ago, a fire started at a camp ground up here on the Reservation. Somebody was careless, and then the wind really got to blowing! I waved and all waved and beeped their horns as well...

Bruce's Bike Blog: August 2014

http://triplebranch.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 14, 2014. Here is re-post about a ride with Cal Melick, back in Lawrence, Kansas. This made me very sad when I got the official news this morning that Cal was killed. This is a road we all know, and a road where often I'd be out riding, and I'd see Cal - and we'd wave and he'd say, "Ahoy Bruce! Thanks Cal - Ride in Beauty. Thursday, August 14, 2014. Links to this post. Monday, August 11, 2014. Sleepy - but not tired. Were you walking up stairs? I've been trying to eat a bit more protein ...

Bruce's Bike Blog: Navajo Ambush! or Riding the Cortez, Delores, Mancos Loop

http://triplebranch.blogspot.com/2015/02/navajo-ambush-or-riding-cortez-delores.html

Tuesday, February 10, 2015. Or Riding the Cortez, Delores, Mancos Loop. On Colorado Hwy 185 from Delores on my way to Mancos. Whoa - I live just an hour drive from Bike Heaven, Gentle Readers of This Blog. Okay, Shiprock, New Mexico - well, not a great place to live. I miss my clean mountain air back in Arizona at The College in Tsaile - but not but a short drive over into Colorado - and I am back up in the mountains, and have many riding options! Man, I am doing some climbing! That is Sleeping Ute Mount...

Sunday, May 26, 2013. Burma Shave Brevet, 1st place.and Lantern Rouge. Burma Shave signs, memorials to the old Burma Shave signs of yesteryear. So though I could hardly walk Friday, I found I could ride without problems. They were nice enough to let me use their bathroom to get ready (and not tow my car away during the day, must say I appreciated that). Steve wasn't there so someone had to take the beer sign shot. I had a bit of a tailwind kick in a few miles out of Ash Fork and it was much appreciated b...

Monday, June 10, 2013. What We Ride- Some Dude interviews Paul. Dude: Today we're interviewing the infamous Paul Layton, Randonneur Mediocre extrordinaire! Particularly we are interested in his bike. Paul, I don't see any branding on this frame, it is a very um, interesting setup here. Paul: Yes Dude, it is. The frame is a Mordor original, Nazgul model. I'm not familiar with that bike company. Dude: Ah, ha ha I see, that's a joke isn't it? I'm the guy with the invisible handlebars! Paul: You got it!

We rode out to the beeline and back with a trip over the backside and I am proud to say I was not last up the hills and was even third getting up little Kong. Of course I was further towards the back on the other hills but I am not unhappy with the results. Tuesday, March 5, 2013. Commuting thoughts on a sunny beautiful 60 degree morning. Sunday, June 30, 2013. Dirty Mogollon Flats, Heat, and Pain. Roger and I riding along while the morning is still pleasant. Roger at Jones Crossing. Roger hadn't done much gravel riding he told me shortly into the ride. He would get a lot of that in the next 30-40 miles. The dry conditions made for a dusty ride on loose surface. I think I prefer a surface that has been rained on within a week or so at this point, it's much more stable. Roger climbing up onto the rim. On the rim road with um, friends?

The Life and Times of Biking Brady: April 2012

http://bikingbrady.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html

Sunday, April 22, 2012. The Great Mystery of Early 2012: Case Closed. I couldn't give up. I searched high and low, calling it's name. I made posters asking for its safe return. Made a newsworthy plea that if an abduction took place that I would pay whatever it took for its safe return. Stillnothing.after awhile, you simply have to move on with your life. Accept the fact that it's gone forever. Think back, and occasionally shed a tear over the good times you've had. May we enjoy many more rides together!

The Life and Times of Biking Brady: November 2012

http://bikingbrady.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html

Sunday, November 18, 2012. Mission Accomplished: Gut Check 2012. I have been a very poor blogger, considering what I'm writing about occurred in August. What will it take for me to be a better blogger? I'm guessing more exciting biking excursions and, most importantly, the death of the evil empire known as Facebook. At any rate, this is the big news of the past few months in my cycling world. Have you ever felt that you let somebody down so you could have your own moment in the sun? In the Gut Check 2007.

The Life and Times of Biking Brady: Let's Get This Body Started

http://bikingbrady.blogspot.com/2015/02/lets-get-this-body-started.html

Monday, February 02, 2015. Let's Get This Body Started. I haven't logged miles or exercise of any sort for a few years now. I find that I tend to be OCD about it when I do. Guess what? That sounded like a pretty good idea to me. I understand that I really am in good shape for somebody of my age, but I know I will push myself harder if I log my exercise. Especially if I share it online. Incoherently rambled by bikingbrady. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Vermillion, South Dakota, United States. Barkin...
