Quote of the Day. Life aboard a 1931 schooner. Category Archives: The Crew. Mahdee’s owners and helpers. Shipmates and Best Buddies. August 3, 2016. I seem to take quite a few photos of ship’s cat Beryl and David together–this is largely because they are constant companions aboard the boat. They’re pretty much always looking at the same thing. And, when I say “smile” they both look at me with similar loopy grins. Shipmates and best buddies stand watch together. December 20, 2015. Beryl in the picture.

Chirps and Trills - Sailing Mahdee

Quote of the Day. Life aboard a 1931 schooner. March 5, 2015. We have a Newport diesel heater in our main saloon. It uses very little fuel something like a gallon a day and has a little overflow / return line in case the fuel pot does overfill or we’re underway and it is rough enough for the pot to spill. We purchased it used on Craigslist in 2011, installed it in 2012 but really didn’t use it a lot until 2014. And she whined at me, taking one of the paper towels out of the shoe bin, shredding it and loo...

Quote of the Day. Life aboard a 1931 schooner. Time Lapse Photos in Walker Fjord. May 26, 2016. We who travel aboard Schooner Mahdee were very lucky to have sunshine and just beautiful days during our visit to Misty Fjords National Monument. In southeastern Alaska. The GoPro on time lapse compresses a day of Mahdee’s wandering around to less than a minute’s watching. Dry Me and Soggy David. March 11, 2016. March 2, 2016. Clever Portuguese Bowline - Sailing Mahdee

Quote of the Day. Life aboard a 1931 schooner. February 6, 2015. It’s windy today, well actually it is very windy with a front blowing through and a bit of rain pelting the boat as showers and downpours mix with smatterings just plain wind. We’re at a dock still and it reminds me of this nice little knot for adding an extra dockline to a (deck mounted) winch if your boat is short on mooring cleats. This entry was posted in Musings. And tagged how to. After the bait bucket…. Not the Margerie Glacier →.

Quote of the Day. Life aboard a 1931 schooner. Master Mariners Wooden Boat Show. July 2, 2016. We love boat shows and especially wooden boat shows but lately we have had busy times and I have been very…immobile due to ankle surgery, casts and whatnot since mid-April. Boring times it’s been. I am still on the mend but able to get out and around using something called a knee scooter. Here are a few photos of the day. A really nice thing about going to the wooden boat show at the Corinthian Yacht Club is th...

Look at ME! not the Margerie Glacier - Sailing Mahdee
http://blog.mahdee.com/2015/02/10/look-at-me-not-the-margerie-glacier
Quote of the Day. Life aboard a 1931 schooner. Not the Margerie Glacier. February 10, 2015. Like any good ship’s cat, or “cat in charge” aka CinC, believes that she should be the primary focus of attention. During the Alaska trip, as we took many photos of glaciers and amazing scenery, she had a lot of…competition! Here she reminds photographer David that she is more important than his once in a lifetime view of the Margerie Glacier. Look at ME not the glacier! This entry was posted in living aboard.

Riveting Riversdale – Through an Aussie's Eyes
http://www.throughanaussieseyes.com/riveting-riversdale
By Through an Aussie's Eyes. Sep 09, 2016. Convict chiseled horse trough. This beauty was built back in the 1830’s as a Coaching Inn by convicts. After the Inn’s life had expired, Edward Twynam, the Surveyor General (New South Wales) and his family bought this house in 1875. Edward and his family owned this house for almost 100 years. If you think about how old Australia is than that is pretty amazing. Inside the dining room. Inside the living room. Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 10am 2pm. September 9, 2016.

Hurricanes, Landslides, Earthquakes, Tsunamis, and Gratitude on Thanksgiving in Costa Rica. My aunt Janet came to visit us a few weeks ago, and Costa Rica put on quite the show for her. Waking up at our beach house to toucans and pizotes munching on papayas, and capuchin monkeys in the trees, the wildlife did not disappoint despite the unforgiving jungle rain. 8203;But without the rain there would be no rainbow. Through the heavy fog and rain, we were gifted one phenomenal, mysterious sunset glitteri...
