Our Trip to the Dominican Republic. Sunday, July 5, 2009. Not much to report today. Sunday. We went to church in Puerto Plata (Silver Port). It was a good experience. We arrived shortly before sacrament meeting started and sat down. The chapel was like an extended room kind-of. (Shanlee's description) The room was separate, but it shared a common roof. There was no hallway, just an open area between the chapel and the rest of the classrooms. After church, we came home, made lunch, and everyone took.

This beach is here in Sosua - about a five-minute walk from their home. This beach has soft sand and amazingly clear water. I took this picture of Shanlee's legs in the water - even when you were out where you couldn't stand up, you could still see your feet. I have to say, it took the trip from fabulous to fantasmic! I thought the kids would want to go straight to the Magic Kindom, but no. They wanted to go to the pool. Every night we left the parks early to get some pool time in. Day 2: Magic Kingdom. Minnie sure was sweet. We always hit Pirates first thing. It's been the tradition since I can remember.

It started pumpkin carving, of course. And decorating the front windows of course. My mom and I decided to be a little unconventional in our materials this year. Dollar store plastic items became Iron Man armor. The first stop was my work party. There were lots of games and candy. Just what a Halloween party should be. Iron Man and Merida.

She sang "Come Unto Christ" and only had to be dunked once! We are so proud of this young lady. She is growing up to be such a wonderful person and I am lucky to be her mom.
