The regular blog of a writer who loves fashion more than her feet do. Heather's advice? Strut the catwalk in flip-flops - there's less chance of falling that way. Wednesday, January 25, 2006. Rule of Six Update. The Rule of Six (see last post) totally worked. It did become the Rule of Eight, but it worked. I wrote down six obvious possibilities to get my heroine out of her scrape, but wasn't ready to stop there. I numbered ahead, and by eight, I had a winner. Posted by Young Adult Authors @ 7:48 AM.

It's Wednesday - nearly one week (well, 9 days) of the school year left! Dreams are different from goals. I mean, I dream of vacationing on a sandy tropical beach - am I saving money for the plane ticket? Okay, so I don't have a surfboard, duh! No That's a dream. A fantasy. Would be nice, but still. The regular blog of a writer who loves fashion more than her feet do. Heather's advice? Strut the catwalk in flip-flops - there's less chance of falling that way. Saturday, February 04, 2006. Falling Close to the Tree. I'm so proud of my dad today! Those pages from his desk drawers showed me a different side of my dad. So quiet in real life, he expressed himself on the page with passion and color. And reading those pages was like knowing him as a person. The prose in his new story is simple, yet elegant ...

I'm sending myself (and you) roses today - because I rocked my WIP yesterday. I wrote 20 pages Courier, a complete chapter! I didn't even stop to work on the oh-so-tempting Fun Proposal. Thursday, May 18, 2006. Sometimes writing a book is like the best orgasm in the world. Just one long high and when it's over, you sit back and let your body quiver with happy exhaustion. Other times, writing a book is like taking a cement block and slamming it into your head. Repeatedly. All day. All night. While being forced to watch your worst enemy steal the guy of your dreams right before. Guess which kind of book I'm writing right now? That's right. It's a bad-hair-cement-block kind of book.

Friday, May 16, 2014. Career Moves: Show Me The Money. When I sold my first book, I didn't think about what I could earn from it. A publisher wanted to BUY MY BOOK! I was officially a WRITER! That was all I cared about. A few books down the line, when I did. Suffice to say, a decade later, I still. Have no idea what half of it means. That was then (apart from the whole royalty statement thing). Now there is so much data available on the subject, you could spend months. Without another source of income, c...
