Burlington Years

We moved aboard in 1977 with Vicky, Jenny, and Kathy. In preparation Don spent the winter rebuilding the interior of The Ark,. Having learned from our prior winter live-aboard experiences. Among the changes - Propane heat was replaced by coal heat,. And a freestanding Fireplace installed in our stateroom for ambiance. I n 1978 we celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary. Our kids gave us a party at Dave's home. Just the thought of being alone with my bride brought tears to my eyes. Below is the first.

Life on the Water

The Ark our first home on the water, We moved aboard with our 4 kids in 1969, and moved off with our 6 kids in 1971. Peace and Tranquility at Still Pond Maryland. We spent many summers there with Jenny and Kathy. Note the corpse on the roof). This is The Ark in it's winter slip. After the oldest four of our kids had abandoned ship, we moved back aboard with Jenny and Kathy. The summers were idyllic but the winters were an endurance test. It was heated by a coal stove and wood burning fireplace.

Camden Years

I n the Fall of 1971 Don purchased a small Honda Dealership in Camden NJ. We would be living in the apartment located above it. August of 1971 was a time of racial riots in Camden, and after moving in we removed the sheets of plywood from the boarded up windows and began to rebuild. Although we were now land dwellers. The Ark became our vacation home. We spent every nice weekend aboard and enjoyed fun and friendships in Tullytown Cove on the Delaware River.
