Monday, May 5, 2014. The Power of a Word. After a lengthy and formal process, Wesley was diagnosed with autism this past Friday. I hope to write more on this at a future time, but for now, these are the thoughts that cross my mind as I chokingly whisper the phrase "Wesley has autism" and seek to grasp all that this entails. Sunday, October 31, 2010. Whereas most people have 46 chromosomes, Wesley has 47. His karyotype (a picture of systematically arranged chromosomes) shows that he has an extra 21st chromosome. Usually triplication of the 21st chromosome would indicate that a person has Down syndrome, but this is not the case for Wesley. Because Wesley's chromosomal makeup is different from Trisomy 21, he does not have many of the visible attributes often associated with people with Down syndrome. Your boys are adorable!

Every year, my prayer for my boys is that God will grant them favor with their teachers (and in Wesley’s case, teacher’s assistants, therapists, and school administrators) and classmates and bless them with one good friend. While I do not know what the future will hold, it is encouraging to me to see this year off to a great start. Yay, so glad its going well! And love that adorable shot of you and Liam. :). Monday, January 9, 2012. We're finishing our school work for the day, and I find myself giddy! We only let our books rest till the New Year before picking up where we'd left off. I did manage to cram in some 2nd semester planning between Christmas and New Year's, and while I wish I'd had more, we needed to get busy.
