I was surprised that it was much more prosperous (and Western) than the Russian cities I've seen. And people are nice, and even on rare occasions (drum roll, please) smile! It was an amazing experience.

Had a delicious Thanksgiving dinner in Baden at this huge heurige (sp? Also it was relatively empty, and just challenging enough that I had to push myself on it.). Europe has been quite a workout. Trude's Adventures in Wien and surrondings. I've just returned from Lohengrin. First of all, the singing and orchestra were absolutely marvelous, quite an experience. I especially like the huge choral parts, and hearing the original context of Here comes the bride was of course fun. I don't know what else to say about the music; it was superb and very enjoyable.
