Driving in South Lantau (Public Transport). Residents, Business Owners and Tour Operators are required to obtain a Closed Road Permit from the Transport Department in order to drive a private car in South Lantau. This costs about 25% of the regular Hong Kong annual licence fee. The MOT charge (if required) remains the same. Temporary permits for moving house, bulky deliveries etc are also available. See deliveries for listings of Lantau-based delivery companies that already have permits.
