Jean-Yves Ferri (Author) and Didier Conrad (Illustrator). Its been a while since we got a well rounded adventure from the Asterix canon. With that master tale spinner Goscinny not around, Uderzo did a fabulous job at the art but not at the script. With that becoming the trend, this legendary world appeared to be doomed to be frozen. This is a fascinating book that collects mail order advertisements that appeared in between the stories in popular comic books during the 60s and the 70s. Be it a larger-than-life monster, or an army of toy soldiers, spy pens, gags, magic tricks or an instant money maker(! Or the ultimate gadget the X-ray specs, these ads had everything a kid ever wanted.

A small sampling of how I spend my time. Saturday, June 09, 2012. I started this piece several weeks ago as a demo in my watercolor class. It uses Burt Silverman's technique of transparent watercolors and gouache on plate (or smooth) Bristol paper. The process is quite interesting and allows for an additive and subtractive approach to painting in watercolors, and the results often resemble oil washes rather than watercolors. 105 X 13.5". A small sampling of how I spend my time. Monday, February 28, 2011. Merry Down Cider transfer demo. This is a technique that involves using acquired imagery such as old engravings, scans and photographs, and transferring them to the substrate using acrylic mediums or acetone, or simply collaging printed materials to your artwork and painting over them with acrylics.
