Stanley was a homework assignment for her. She had to send him away in search of people who make a difference in their communities. Well, Stanley arrived full of energy and gusto to go anywhere and everywhere I would go. He went along to visits and met new mums and babies. He even went to a birth! Stanley liked this baby girl a lot!

Friday, 26 October 2007. Kiwi Gazette, Edition 13. Maori symbol of new beginnings, new life. Who knew there were so many types of ferns? Botanists, I guess). And we weren't the only ones enjoying the lovely weather, there were lots of sea animals out and about. What a treat! Just so happens that the Fiordland crested penguins are making their nests now. So great to see them in the wild! A nesting pair, and penguin and seal sharing the same sunny spot. There really is a dolphin here, honest! It's tailing ...

Sunday, 22 April 2007. How could these days be going so quickly? We just enjoyed 3 days with Lylaine's son, Matt, from San Luis Obispo. It was great to just relax and have some quality time with this incredible young man. (Here's a picture of Matt and Cary when we were in Hawaii in February.). Friday, 18 May 2007. Last Post from the USA. Tomorrow we're dismantling our computers, so this will be the last post until we arrive in New Zealand and have access to computers there. Our schedule when we arrive is a little uncertain for the first couple weeks, so it may be a bit before we're back on. Hopefully, the next post will be full of fun photos of our new country. Saturday, 23 June 2007. Kiwi Gazette, Edition 4, Saturday. We really miss everyone like crazy! We were trying to wait for a calm period to venture on a walk and have decided that we need to postpone it for another day. Constance was asked to substitute (locally known as "relief teaching") in Tuatapere for 2 days this week. She learned that kids are awful to subs everywhere! Surprisingly, subs are paid $50 NZ per hour, about $40US. (US subs make about $80 for the whole day! Sunday (the "morning after").
