Steamboat Traditions on the Hudson River. My paternal grandfather, John E. Worden, was a steam tug boat engineer for Messeck and then Moran Towing. His father, John H. Worden, was a harbor pilot for Lehigh and Wilkes Barre Coal Co. Then later for Dalzell Towing. When son, John E., married Miss Electa Savage, another Sea Captain was added to the family. Electa’s father, John Savage, was a Captain on the Hudson River Day. If you have any additional information or photographs to contribute, please contact me.

For about four days in October, Knotthead visited the west coast city of Seattle. He found coffee, baseball, art, boats. Hippies (is that still a word? More coffee, and fish, both live and with chips. This is where he lived while he was out there. The Seagull is a 37 foot high-liner built sometime in the 1930's. It looks pretty typical of the vessels used for fishing in the Pacific Northwest. He shared the V-berth with a 100 pound Chocolate Lab named Jake. A good time was had by all. After the fish watch...
