Stoney the Fisherman: Chinook Salmon w/ Johnny Bowles
http://bssphoto.blogspot.com/2011/10/chinook-salmon-w-johnny-bowles.html
Monday, October 3, 2011. Chinook Salmon w/ Johnny Bowles. Johnny Bowles, of JB And Water Guide Service, invited me on board to fish with him last week. He has some openings, so I bolted over the hill to meet him at the dock at 6:30am. I got there early to take a few pictures before we headed out. We had two clients in the boat that we needed to get onto some fish. The weather was barely nice enough to let us out for the morning. Pelicans and gulls were diving everywhere! They were happy and so were we.

Saturday, August 4, 2012. Newport Inshore Halibut with Chris. We decided not to waste gas for tuna, and instead, try for some inshore halibut and salmon. There had been some good reports just off the lighthouse for some white gold we decided to go out and prospect! Steve, from Idaho, also came over with his wife and child and we took them along for the killing. I can't believe it floated all the way across the Pacific! Not just bit, but line just started screaming out! First inshore fish on! They come eq...

Stoney the Fisherman: June 2012
http://bssphoto.blogspot.com/2012_06_01_archive.html
Friday, June 15, 2012. Joe Traylor sent me a text asking if I'd like to join the guys for some halibut. I couldn't resist! Besides, the new chest freezer needed some weight, anyway. A beautiful morning drive took across the back bay, exposing the sunbeams peeking through the fog. Once in Garibaldi, I met up with the guys and planned our day. We launched and headed across the bar. We first headed North and dropped crab pots before heading out to the hill. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). WATCH MORE VIDEOS HERE.

Stoney the Fisherman: Nehalem Steelhead, Elk and Bobcat
http://bssphoto.blogspot.com/2011/03/nehalem-steelhead.html
Saturday, March 26, 2011. Nehalem Steelhead, Elk and Bobcat. This past week, I went up and fished a tributary of the Nehalem. The cold frosty morning brought the elk herds down from the hills. One herd of elk were in a farmer's field near Elsie, OR. I saw mostly cows in this group. I continued on til I found my destination. The main river was blown out, but the tributaries were quite the exception! They were running gin-clear. Once I hit the river, the first cast brought a beautiful native steelhead.

Stoney the Fisherman: Bald Eagles = Good Luck Charms
http://bssphoto.blogspot.com/2010/05/bald-eagles-good-luck-charms.html
Friday, May 21, 2010. Bald Eagles = Good Luck Charms. We made our way to the river, and began our trek. At the first hole we came to, Dylan hooked a Nice fish. The fight played out and as the fish came to the bank, it came unbuttoned. So we knew they were there. We hiked our way through steep canyons, LARGE boulders, and 100yr-old trees. Beautiful area! Some pools were tough to navigate, but we would eventually find a path up to the next hole. After a great fight, we realize it was a hatchery fish! Which...

Stoney the Fisherman: September 2012
http://bssphoto.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Sunday, September 30, 2012. Strange Crabs on the Siletz! The weather was amazing! Unlike the day before. We tried to fish the day before with no results, and wind that was blowing 20 kts, easily. This produced some 2-3' waves coming up the river by the bridge. What a tale of two days! The next morning, a light fog settled in, but quickly burned off and made way for warm rays of sunshine beating down on us. We dropped the crab pots and decided to fish upriver a little, where it was calmer. Blazers Vs....

Stoney the Fisherman: April 2012
http://bssphoto.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Wednesday, April 25, 2012. Willamette Springers (April 24th, 2012). Okay, today wasn't my best day. I only had one fish strike, and fought him to the boat, before it shook itself off. I trolled right by Gary and Dwight as they hooked with their SECOND fish in less than 20 mins! The fish came at 17 pulls on a green label herring. A flasher and a super-secret spinning attractor was also used. Glad I got some action shots! Great job on the fish. The guys went 2-2 that day. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). My fri...
