View my complete profile. Monday, February 8, 2010. On Sunday we took the train to Lucca. The train was going all the way to Viareggio (on the coast) and was packed with people. Viareggio was having its carnavale and lots of people, especially kids, were dressed up in costumes. It takes 1:20 to get to Lucca and it is a short walk from the train station through the massive red brick medieval walls into town. PART OF THE OUTSIDE WALL OF THE AMPHITHEATRE - A GORGEOUS COLOUR OF BRICK.

We had a nice little alcove tucked away in a corner which felt like a private room and a very friendly waiter. But the best part was out the one door, into the next, no coats, up the stairs (72) and into our apartment for a night cap. Lots of fun was had by all. VIEW OF THE BACK OF THE PITTI PALACE FROM THE GARDENS.
