While every year I take notice of December 7 and what it means to America, being in Japan on this historic date has made me stop to think just a little more more about the significance of the Japan-America dynamic. Is the date one of nostalgia, or is it one of embarrassment, or none of these things at all?

We missed blogging it because we were driving out to Rochester, New York to visit my brother and such. So here is his birthday wishes, my baby is a year old already! Unfortunately I don't have as much free time as I used to, but fortunately my husband and I have a beautiful home with a yard for Duke! So play dates happen more often. Also way closer to all the fun dog parks! Duker meets some dogs at the local dog park (including a puggle puppy! Duke takes a walk over to visit Triton and Dinoco. Keeping guard at the front door. Tuesday, August 11, 2009. Back from being away. It's been awhile. With the wedding, everything has kind of fallen by the wayside. While we were in Maine getting married, Duker stayed at the Brown Dog Inn. It made the wedding weekend go easy. I called it his Puppy day / overnight camp. I think he was even upset that we picked him, totally not excited to see us at all. Here's Duker in Maine after we picked him up. Not even interested in his ring. Can I go back now, Mommy?
