The Days of the Blackbird) in many parts of Italy. Merli. Blackbirds) are completely black birds (in my opinion, they look a lot like American Robins, but are completely black). Bringing a little Tuscany into everyday life. Sunday, January 19, 2014. Winter weather in Tuscany usually involves a lot of rain, fog, and chilly days. Occasionally it will snow, but normally the snow doesn't stick around very long. I prefer to just see it adorning the mountain tops several kilometers away! Snow on the mountains above Florence. One part of winter that I adore is all of the heartier meals that are prepared! Comfort food at it's best! Lasagne, ready to pop into the oven. Meat sauce). I...

Bringing a little Tuscany into everyday life. Tuesday, January 7, 2014. Tuscan Diet - Beans. Tuscans have been called "bean eaters" throughout their history, which was actually a fairly derogatory term referring to the fact that Tuscans, for the most part, were poor and beans were (and are) cheap, yet hearty and full of protein and nutrients. Cannellini beans being mixed into homemade ribollita. One of our favorite ways to eat beans is a traditional Florentine dish called Fagioli all'Uccelletto. Un Cuore...

The most dramatic part of Easter celebrations in Florence, however, is the Scoppio del Carro - The Explosion of the Cart. Explosion of the Cart. Subscribe to: Post ...

http://cuore-scalzo.blogspot.com/2013_06_01_archive.html
Un Cuore Scalzo - My Adventures in Italy. My journey to and around Tuscany. Wednesday, June 19, 2013. Without a doubt, one of my all-time favorite Italian desserts is tiramisu. Translated, tiramisu means "pick-me-up", which is an apt description of this delightful dessert! I'm sure you may have had it before at Italian restaurants. I know it used to be my "go-to" dessert whenever I was out with friends, but it wasn't until I was in Italy that I found out that it is REALLY easy to make! You can brew it or...

Un Cuore Scalzo - My Adventures in Italy: Injury in Tuscany
http://cuore-scalzo.blogspot.com/2014/01/injury-in-tuscany.html
Un Cuore Scalzo - My Adventures in Italy. My journey to and around Tuscany. Sunday, January 26, 2014. This past December, I had a bit of an accident. Somehow, it had slipped my mind to write about it, so I will make up for it now. We were blanketed in a thick fog for quite a large percentage of days in December. It's not all that unusual, but it really did give me a bit of a case of cabin fever, since I was unable to get out and walk like I had grown accustomed to doing. The sky was gorgeous that morning!
