Just another WordPress.com site. 十一月 12, 2009. 踏進新開張的前尖沙咀水警基地 1881 Heritage, Hullett 酒店的 The Parlour 餐廳, 享用那人均消費數百元的午餐, 同時有著對保育古蹟政策的矛盾心情。 矛盾的一端, 在於古蹟應屬於全港普羅市民大眾, 故不應變成只有肯花錢、花得起錢的人才能入內的地方。 數百元的餐費我尚且可付, 如要內進 酒店 的其他地方, 則要付出千元甚至萬元的房費, 就不值得。 作為市民, 當然希望凡古蹟皆能變成原本功能的博物館, 花費十元八塊就能入內參觀個夠。 矛盾的另一端, 從另一角度想, 當古蹟仍能作商業原則活化, 則古蹟的實用功能未完, 似乎不應就此把它變成浸在福爾馬林液中的標本或一比一模型。 仍有實用價值的古蹟, 應繼續它的實用功能, 就像不曾把它認定作古蹟一樣。 那麼, 改變古蹟的原有功能繼續其實用功能, 水警基地變酒店、當舖變餐廳、警署變超市, 又是否不當? 最重要還是不要破壞和改建保留價值高的部分, 及一旦有天認為要把古蹟還原, 還是可行。 2009 紐約之旅 (6 之 6).

Just another WordPress.com site. 2009 紐約之旅 (6 之 4) 紐約地鐵. 2009 紐約之旅 (6 之 6) →. 2009 紐約之旅 (6 之 5) 美國印象. 八月 4, 2009. 工作地方和酒店都在華埠 (唐人街), 所以跟在倫敦時一樣, 工作天的兩餐一般都是在華埠吃港式茶餐廳和中菜為主, 另外還享用過越南、日本和泰國菜。 紐約華埠面積很大, 可以算是一個區, 所以也不太適合叫 唐人街 了。 華埠的建築都比較舊和矮, 一般不過十層, 建築物外牆一般有條鐵梯連接各層, 相信是用作緊急逃生用。 而華埠中文招牌林立, 有街市售賣乾濕雜貨, 街邊也有流動小販賣水果, 看起來一點也不像美國, 像深水埗可能還多一點。 華埠旁為另一小區 Little Italy, 街道上有很多中小型的意大利餐廳, 當星期五、六、日傍晚會劃為行人專區。 華埠勢力正逐步蠶食 Little Italy, 使之越縮越小。 未正式到過美國或紐約時, 或許會覺得這裡治安很差很恐怖, 其實市面上也很正常, 沒有什麼異樣。 This entry was posted in Travel.

Just another WordPress.com site. 九龍皇帝 駕崩 與 流氓皇帝. 七月 28, 2007. 香港的第一代 7 層高的公屋, 今天已所餘無幾, 而石硤尾村第 41 座 (美荷樓) 是首 8 座徙置大廈之一, 則有幸獲得保留。 至於保留後作什麼用途, 現在當局正舉辦公開比賽, 邀請公眾和專業人士提供創作意念, 並且在七月份開放美荷樓讓公眾和有意參加比賽人士參觀。 香港公共房屋因為安置 1953 年聖誕石硤尾木屋區大火災民而誕生, 首 8 座徙置大廈在 1954 年於石硤尾落成, 使石硤尾村成為香港第一個公共屋村。 這些第一代公屋的單位, 最初面積只有 11 平方米, 沒有獨立廁所。 在 1970 年代政府才把兩個相連單位打通及加設廁所, 令單位面積擴展至 26 平方米。 經過 50 年的演變, 新建成的公共房屋已經十分現代化, 舊公屋也不斷被拆卸和重建。 新近落成的石硤尾村重建摩天大廈就矗立在美荷樓等的 7 層徙置大廈外不遠處, 和美荷樓一起見證香港公共房屋的歷史變遷。 在參觀美荷樓之前, 跟同事在私人屋苑 碧海藍天 的會所裡打羽毛球。 九龍皇帝 駕崩 與 流氓皇帝.

Just another WordPress.com site. 2009 紐約之旅 (6 之 5) 美國印象. 2009 紐約之旅 (6 之 6). 八月 4, 2009. 7 月 25 日是回港的日子, 抵達甘迺迪機場 7 號客運大樓後寄掉行李, 便決定環遊這個機場各客運大樓。 甘迺迪機場有 8 個客運大樓, 別看數量很多, 其實每一個大樓都不是很大, 而且 8 個大樓都集中在一起, 要逐一前往也不是太困難。 甘迺迪機場有一個無人駕駛的機場鐵路系統, 名為 AirTrain JFK , 除把 8 個大樓連起來外, 也接駁機場外一個地鐵站和一個鐵路車站。 8 個大樓每個大小形狀不一, 令人印象深刻的是當時最熱鬧的 1 號大樓, 看起來很像湯漢斯主演的電影 機場客運站。 這次乘坐的依然是國泰航空波音 777-367/ER, 更加是現時唯一的 亞洲國際都會 彩繪機。 飛機於下午 4 時起飛, 越過北極抵達香港, 已是 26 日的晚上 7 時。 這次行程在飛機上先吃了一餐, 睡了 2 小時, 再被弄醒吃多一餐, 之後再睡 4 小時, 就差不多要降落, 16 小時其實真的不太難過。
